Job Title: Supply Chain Supervisor
Job Description
This temporary Supply Chain Supervisor role oversees raw material planning, purchasing, supplier relationships, and inventory management to support continuous production. The position leads a team of buyers, ensures accurate and timely procurement, and drives cost-effective, high-quality supply chain performance. This assignment covers a leave of absence for approximately 6 to 9 months, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
Supervise daily purchasing activities to ensure timely and efficient procurement of raw materials, goods, and services required for production.
Develop and implement purchasing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance across all categories.
Review and analyze each buyer's MRP plan based on the overall supply plan to ensure alignment with production needs.
Review and approve purchase orders generated from the MRP plan, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal guidelines.
Review MRP exception messages and determine when to expedite orders to prevent production delays.
Review shortages reports for parts impacting production and proactively resolve potential risks to Pool/Spa and Commercial lines.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and reports while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Identify potential delivery delays and work closely with buyers to mitigate risks and secure alternative solutions where necessary.
Host weekly meetings with suppliers to follow up on parts shortages and drive timely resolution of supply issues.
Support and address inbound logistics issues for both domestic and overseas shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
Provide guidance and support to buyers while collaborating with corporate commodity managers to secure timely approvals for price increases, tariff changes, and supplier payment issues.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and reliability.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and overall reliability.
Resolve supply, quality, service, and invoicing issues with vendors, taking the lead on resolving parts shortages and coordinating with Quality and Engineering teams on supplier quality issues.
Regularly analyze and monitor supplier on-time delivery performance and drive corrective actions where needed.
Conduct quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Conduct weekly reviews of in-house inventory and provide guidance to buyers on transferring stock from external locations to support production requirements.
Analyze excessive and aging inventory and refine raw material planning to optimize stock levels.
Review obsolete inventory and propose reduction or disposition plans to management.
Assist buyers in resolving inventory discrepancies and support physical inventory audits.
Work closely with buyers, Engineering, and Product Management teams on sourcing activities for new product introductions.
Support buyers with PPAP-related activities and monitor sourcing progress to ensure timely deliveries for key NPI milestones.
Support and monitor deviations and assist buyers with engineering change-related activities to ensure smooth implementation.
Lead and support cost-saving projects within the supply chain and purchasing function.
Assist buyers with ERP (Oracle) system-related issues and ensure accurate system transactions.
Collaborate with other departments to align procurement activities with broader organizational goals and initiatives.
Provide training, coaching, and guidance to develop the capabilities of the purchasing and supply chain team.
Lead and participate in other special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in supply chain management, with a focus on raw material planning and purchasing.
Strong knowledge of MRP planning and the ability to review, analyze, and act on MRP outputs.
Demonstrated experience in purchase order management, including reviewing and approving POs and managing changes.
Hands-on experience supervising or leading a buying or purchasing team.
Solid Expereince in supplier management, including selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
Experience negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-effective purchasing.
Proficiency in managing inventory, including analysis of excessive, aging, and obsolete stock.
Ability to resolve supply, quality, service, and invoicing issues with vendors in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Experience using ERP systems, preferably Oracle, for purchasing and materials management.
Strong skills in procurement, vendor management, and materials management within a production environment.
Ability to conduct and lead regular supplier meetings and quarterly business reviews.
Strong analytical skills to interpret shortages reports, inventory data, and on-time delivery metrics.
Effective leadership and coaching skills to develop and support a team of buyers.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting inbound logistics for domestic and overseas shipments.
Expereince in cost-saving project management within purchasing or supply chain functions.
Familiarity with PPAP processes and new product introduction (NPI) sourcing activities.
Experience supporting engineering change-related activities and deviations in a production environment.
Ability to maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Comfort working in a temporary or contract assignment, covering a leave of absence.
Previous experience managing or contributing to physical inventory audits.
Work Environment
This role is based in an in-office environment and involves managing a team of approximately seven buyers within a production-focused supply chain organization. The position relies heavily on ERP systems, including Oracle, and regular interaction with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Product Management. The assignment is a temporary role, expected to last approximately 6 to 9 months to cover a leave of absence, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.00 - $62.00/hr.
