Job Title: Staff AccountantJob Description
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the business by preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and completing account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process. This role contributes to accurate financial reporting, supports fixed assets, inventory, payroll, and tax filings, and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and established accounting standards. The position offers broad exposure across core accounting areas and provides an opportunity to work closely with leadership while helping to improve accounting processes and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in compliance with accounting standards.
Perform account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Support the month-end close process by coordinating tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial data.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and financial statements, ensuring they reflect accurate and reliable information.
Support accounting activities related to fixed assets, including tracking additions, disposals, and depreciation.
Assist with inventory-related accounting, including reconciliations and analysis of inventory balances.
Provide support for payroll-related accounting activities, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation of payroll transactions.
Assist with tax-related filings by preparing supporting schedules and documentation as needed.
Use Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions, to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
Work within an ERP system to enter, review, and analyze accounting data, including transactions within Oracle Fusion.
Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, or unusual variances and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation to support journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional and non-financial teams, clearly explaining accounting concepts and the financial impact of business activities.
Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies in accounting workflows and recommending practical solutions.
Manage multiple priorities and deadlines, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Work both independently and as part of a team to support overall accounting and finance objectives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (accounting major required).
Understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles.
Hands-on experience with month-end close, including preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
Experience maintaining and working with the general ledger.
Experience with financial reporting and financial statements.
Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and basic data analysis.
Experience working within an ERP system.
Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-financial teams.
Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with fixed assets accounting is a plus.
Experience with inventory accounting is a plus.
Experience with payroll support or payroll-related accounting is a plus.
Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar ERP platforms is beneficial.
Process improvement mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
Interest in gaining broad exposure across general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, and inventory accounting.
Desire to work in a stable organization with long-term growth and visibility to leadership.
Work Environment
This role is fully on-site and requires regular presence in the office. The organization operates in a fairly paper-based environment, so the Staff Accountant will work with both physical documents and digital systems. The position offers a stable setting with long-term growth potential and provides broad exposure across general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, and inventory accounting. The work environment supports close collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams, with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement in accounting processes and financial reporting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
