WHO YOU ARE:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Director to work from our Overland Park, KS office. This role primarily responsibilities for managing the month-end close process for one or more areas of financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and maintaining a robust control environment within the organization. Position requires a candidate with a significant amount of professional agility, a self-starter that quickly and effectively translates organization initiatives to departmental goals in order to achieve desired results.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis for respective business segment
Oversee preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and REIT-specific requirements
Develop and maintain financial reporting for various levels of internal management reporting needs
Partner with Tax and Legal on entity formation, restructuring, and complex accounting requirements
Partner with Treasury for cash flow planning and money management
Assist in financial budgeting and forecasting, providing accurate and reliable financial insights
Provide support for the annual internal and external audits
Ensure adherence to US GAAP and maintain a strong internal control environment, including SOX compliance.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Lead and nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives
Responsible for supporting management initiatives including process standardization and simplification, financial analysis and research, and reporting
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting
A minimum of 10 years of accounting or financial reporting experience
Five or more years of supervisory experience
Ability to work onsite in our Overland Park, KS office location. We are open to relocation for qualified candidates
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Four or more years of experience in public accounting at a Big 4 firm
CPA, MBA, or a graduate degree in a finance-related field.
Experience with Workday Financials or other large ERP systems.
Working knowledge of Corporate Tax and accounting for various legal entities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at the executive level.
Demonstrated experience presenting to company executives.
Strategic thinking capabilities and deep understanding of GAAP and financial processes.
Professional agility to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with automated accounting systems and ERP tools.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across departments with competing priorities.
