Job Description Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Senior Reliability Specialist is a recognized technical leader focused on root cause analysis, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) monitoring, and proactive asset health management. This role provides critical technical support to the Maintenance, Operations, and Capital teams through continuous improvement and reliable operation of electrical equipment, instrumentation, control systems, rotating machinery and fixed equipment. You will manage predictive, preventive, and precision maintenance for the site's electrical, fixed, and rotating equipment, acting as a mentor to maintenance technicians and junior engineers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Asset Strategy & Reliability
Optimize Maintenance: Analyze equipment operation to develop and improve PM schedules while minimizing downtime and costs.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead RCFA on all mechanical and electrical failures; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Lifecycle Management: Develop end-of-life strategies and infrastructure maintenance plans.
Strategic Planning: Drive short-term and long-term reliability strategies for the site.
Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Health
System Analysis: Support power system calculations, including load flow, short circuit studies, and protective system coordination.
Safety Compliance: Ensure PM compliance for distribution equipment and oversee Arc Flash studies and evaluations.
Digital Diagnostics: Advance electronic monitoring and diagnostic efforts for site-wide instrumentation and controls.\
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Mentorship: Act as a role model and technical resource for maintenance technicians and staff engineers.
Capital Support: Partner with the Engineering and Controls groups on new projects to ensure reliable design and adequate spare parts.
Training: Facilitate training for technicians in areas such as PdMA testing, pump alignment, and seal replacement.
Operational Excellence
Inventory Optimization: Evaluate existing spare parts to consolidate or replace legacy items with current models.
Data-Driven Decisions: Create and maintain KPIs from PM data to monitor equipment health.
Knowledge Transfer: Digitize standards and troubleshooting techniques to build a more skilled and agile workforce.

Leadership: Proven experience as a technical lead or mentor within a maintenance/reliability environment.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in rotating equipment, fixed assets, and electrical distribution systems.
Safety Mindset: Deep commitment to safety programs, including housekeeping and regulatory compliance (e.g., Arc Flash safety).
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in reliability data modeling and root cause failure analysis.
Communication: Ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams (Operations, Controls, and Maintenance).
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and proactive maintenance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
High school diploma / Associates in a technical or engineering field preferred
15+ years of technical maintenance/reliability experience.
Experience in creating, maintaining, and updating multiple project documents in a complex project environment
Extensive knowledge in design and failure analysis of electrical systems, pumps, bearings, shafts, gears, lubricants, and other standard industrial manufacturing equipment - required.
Troubleshooting skills are a must, particularly of mechanical systems. Root cause failure analysis experience required.
CMRP or similar certification highly preferred.
Proven experience in leading teams, groups or efforts relating to processes and equipment
Knowledgeable with Process Safety Management (PSM), including process safety information, equipment design in accordance with RAGAGEP, Mechanical Integrity, and Management of Change, etc.
Experience working with enterprise CMMS software, preferably Maximo
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Demonstrate initiative and ability to perform alone and as part of a team.
Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and equipment
Ability to read and create CAD drawings including mechanical, electrical, and Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE :
Reports to Maintenance and Reliability Manager
Interacts with site management and staff, particularly with maintenance supervisor and technicians as well as all ranks in the operations department.
Interacts with outside contractors, vendors and equipment manufacturers.
No direct fiscal responsibilities other than cost saving projects.
No routine supervisory responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
60% work in the plant; 40% office environment.
May be required to wear a full-face respirator contingent upon required job duties.
