Job Title: Manufacturing Tooling Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Tooling Engineer supports and improves existing manufacturing equipment by redesigning and sustaining tooling and machine components to enhance reliability, performance, and safety. This role focuses on troubleshooting machine issues, implementing and validating design changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a clean, automated, and climate-controlled production environment.
Responsibilities
Diagnose machine issues in a manufacturing environment and identify root causes of failures or inefficiencies.
Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and processes to restore performance and minimize downtime.
Redesign or modify tooling and machine components to improve reliability, sustainability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
Implement design changes and validate that corrective actions effectively resolve the identified problems.
Test updated designs to ensure quality, consistency, and high uptime of manufacturing operations.
Work closely with engineering, production, controls, and other cross-functional teams to support continuous improvements.
Track issues, design changes, and implemented improvements to prevent repeat problems and maintain clear documentation.
Manage project timelines and costs while implementing tooling and machine solutions to meet business and production goals.
Ensure all redesigned equipment and tooling comply with applicable OSHA and ANSI safety standards.
Monitor performance after implementation and adjust designs or processes as needed to optimize results.
Support sustaining engineering activities, focusing on redesign and enhancement of existing machines rather than new machine design.
Contribute to tool build and machine build efforts to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and maintainable.
Utilize SolidWorks and other design tools to create, update, and manage detailed models and drawings.
Use MS Office Suite, MS Project, and SharePoint for documentation, project tracking, and collaboration.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to explain design decisions, project status, and technical issues.

Familiarity with machine control systems (optional).
Sustainable design practices applied to tooling and machine components.
Experience in sustaining engineering, focusing on incremental improvements to existing machines.
Experience in machine building and tool build from concept through implementation.
Extensive cross-functional team experience, collaborating across engineering, production, and other functions.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stable environment with opportunities for long-term growth and internal career development.
Work Environment
