Job Description
This position focuses on setting up, operating, and conversationally programming a Mazak QUICK TURN 350 MSY lathe with live tooling and multi-spindle capability. You will work hands-on across both CNC and manual equipment, machining a variety of materials while contributing to continuous improvement and data-driven process optimization in a collaborative shop environment.
Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and conversationally program (Mazatrol) a Mazak QUICK TURN 350 MSY lathe.
Utilize live tooling and multi-spindle functions to efficiently machine complex parts.
Perform machining operations on mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic materials such as Inconel, copper, and nickel alloys.
Use CNC equipment to repair welded components with imperfections, applying Mazatrol for quick adjustments and cycle optimization.
Maintain tight tolerances, typically around ±0.002" (±2 thou), to ensure high-quality parts.
Operate manual lathes as needed to support production and repair work.
Assist with general shop operations, including tasks such as saw operation and utility work, when required.
Troubleshoot setups, tooling issues, and part quality concerns independently and effectively.
Actively contribute to process improvement by providing feedback on machining strategies, tooling selection, and workflow.
Apply a scientific, data-driven approach to evaluate and enhance machining processes.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist.
Hands-on experience with Mazatrol conversational programming.
Experience operating and setting up CNC lathes, including changeovers and machine setup.
Ability to work with a range of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys such as Inconel, copper, and nickel.
Strong ability to troubleshoot setups, tooling, and part quality issues independently.
Comfort working in a flexible, utility-style role within a shop environment, supporting various machining and shop tasks.
Experience with CNC operations involving mills and lathes.
Familiarity with G-code and M-code, with the ability to translate that knowledge to Mazatrol programming.
Ability to operate manual mills and manual lathes as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with multi-spindle and live-tooling lathes.
Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
Interest in developing advanced programming and machining skills on high-end CNC equipment.
Comfort contributing ideas and feedback in a continuous improvement environment focused on scientific and data-driven methods.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large, semi-temperature-controlled shop environment with a CNC team of approximately ten people. You will work on modern CNC equipment, including a Mazak QUICK TURN 350 MSY with live tooling and multi-spindle capabilities, alongside manual mills and lathes and other general shop equipment such as saws. The team emphasizes a scientific, data-driven approach to machining, where feedback and suggestions for process improvement are actively encouraged and welcomed. Working hours offer flexibility, with the option to start an hour earlier or later as long as job requirements are met.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00/hr.
