Our client, a well-established educational organization in the Brookline area, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to grow within a collaborative, mission-driven environment offering strong work/life balance and excellent benefits.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will support tuition billing and receivables, reconciliations, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is personable, proactive, and comfortable communicating with families, faculty, and staff both over the phone and via email.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts receivable, tuition billing, collections, and payment tracking

Perform reconciliations across revenue and receivable accounts

Assist with monthly financial close and preparation of financial reports

Support reconciliations for donations, grants, pledges, and other revenue activity

Reconcile bank, investment, and related accounts

Work closely with families and internal stakeholders to resolve billing questions and payment issues

Assist with financial aid tracking, reporting, and related administrative processes

Participate in ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

1-2+ years of accounting or finance experience

Prior experience in a school, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization is a plus

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems required

Experience with QuickBooks or Veracross is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary ranging from $60,000-$75,000
