Job Title: Test Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on establishing, executing, and validating test procedures for aircraft power generation equipment in a highly regulated aviation environment. You will lead testing projects that support both engineering and production, including new product testing, data acquisition system development, and the setup of specialized test chambers for hydraulic and AC oil-cooled systems. This is a safety-sensitive, 12-month contract position with flexible hours around a 7:00 am to 3:30 pm shift and the possibility of extension or conversion to a direct role.
Responsibilities
Establish detailed test procedures for aircraft power generation equipment and ensure they meet applicable industry and regulatory standards.
Coordinate and execute testing projects that support both engineering development and production activities.
Verify and validate new test methods to confirm they produce accurate, repeatable, and reliable results.
Test new products and components, including power generation units, avionics, and AC/DC power systems.
Develop and implement systems to gather digital data during testing, ensuring accurate data acquisition, storage, and analysis.
Set up and operate test chambers and test cells for hydraulic systems and AC oil-cooled systems, including configuring instrumentation and controls.
Support product development engineering by providing test results, analysis, and recommendations for design improvements.
Perform troubleshooting on complex aviation power generation systems to identify root causes of failures or performance issues.
Apply knowledge of hydraulic design, hydraulic modeling, and hydraulics maintenance to test setup and execution.
Conduct thermal testing, vibration analysis, and environmental testing in accordance with applicable military standards and specifications.
Ensure all testing complies with relevant MIL specs, MIL standards, Department of Defense requirements, and ITAR regulations where applicable.
Work with avionics systems, instrumentation, and circuit boards to validate performance and reliability.
Calibrate and verify instrumentation and electrical measurement equipment used in test setups.
Document test plans, procedures, results, and findings clearly and accurately for engineering, quality, and regulatory review.
Support Part 145/121 repair station activities by testing and qualifying repaired or overhauled components and systems.
Collaborate with research and development teams to validate new designs and technologies for military and commercial aircraft applications.
Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe test environment in accordance with safety-sensitive position requirements.
Adapt to changing test schedules and stay beyond standard shift hours when required to complete critical testing.
Essential Skills
At least 7 years of testing experience in the aviation industry or another highly regulated industry.
Proven experience developing, qualifying, and testing products in a regulated environment.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex aviation power generation systems.
Experience setting up and operating test cells and test chambers for hydraulic systems or AC electrical systems.
Strong background in product testing and quality engineering within aerospace or similar industries.
Knowledge of hydraulic design, hydraulic modeling, and hydraulics maintenance.
Experience with AC/DC motor control and AC/DC power systems.
Familiarity with test chambers, test cells, and thermal testing techniques.
Working knowledge of MIL specifications, MIL standards, and Department of Defense requirements.
Understanding of ITAR regulations as they relate to aviation and military products.
Experience with avionics systems and aircraft power electronics.
Ability to work with circuit boards and electronic components in a test environment.
Experience with instrumentation calibration and electrical instrumentation.
Ability to perform vibration analysis and assess vibration and harshness impacts on components.
Knowledge of temperature controls and environmental testing for aircraft and military systems.
Ability to work effectively in a safety-sensitive position with strict adherence to procedures and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a Part 145 or Part 121 repair station environment.
background in research and development, including validation of new designs and systems.
Familiarity with military aircraft systems and standards.
Experience with power electronics in aviation applications.
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is a plus.
Exposure to aircraft systems, avionics, and related electronic and hydraulic subsystems.
Ability to interpret and apply military standards and specifications in testing activities.
Strong documentation skills for test procedures, results, and technical reports.

Work Environment

This is a safety-sensitive position with a standard shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility and the possibility of staying later when testing schedules require extended coverage. The position is structured as a 12-month contract with the opportunity to extend, though extension is not guaranteed. You will work with advanced test cells, test chambers, hydraulic and AC oil-cooled systems, avionics, and power electronics in a structured, process-driven environment that supports both engineering and production testing.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
