Correctional Medical Assistant - Contract

Location: Gig Harbor, WA

Contract Length: 13 weeks with potential for extension

Anticipated Start Date: June 15

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Holidays/Weekends: No weekends, no holidays

Pay

Local Rate: $30/hour

Position Overview

Seeking a Washington State Certified Medical Assistant to provide clinical support services within a correctional healthcare setting in Gig Harbor, WA. This role requires strong clinical skills, professionalism, and comfort working in a structured and secure environment.

Responsibilities

Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints

Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures

Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, wound care, and specimen collection as assigned

Administer medications and treatments per facility protocol and scope

Document all care accurately in the electronic medical record

Adhere to infection control, safety, and correctional facility policies

Collaborate with nursing staff, providers, and custody personnel to support patient care

Requirements

Active Washington State Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C)

Minimum 1 year of recent clinical medical assistant experience

Urgent care experience preferred

Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills

Ability to function independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Medical Assistant responsible for performing duties under the direction of a physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients.

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or its equivalent

Good telephone communication skills

Knowledge of medical terminology

Knowledge of medical procedures

Knowledge of clerical functions

Current CPR card (if applicable)

Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (if applicable)

Current Health Certificate (if applicable)

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred

Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred.

Relevant certification/ license if applicable.

Must be at least 18 years of age
