Medical Equipment Technician / Customer Service Representative (CSR) Location
Indianapolis, IN AND Columbus, IN (local travel required)
Overview
We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Medical Equipment Technician to support patients using sleep PAP and other durable medical equipment (DME). This role combines hands-on equipment delivery, patient education, and strong customer service to ensure patients receive safe, effective care in their home.
Key Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service to patients using sleep PAP and other DME equipment
Deliver, set up, and maintain medical equipment in patient homes, including oxygen systems
Educate customers on the proper use, care, and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, including urgent/emergency situations
Complete accurate patient visit documentation and reports following setup and follow-ups
Maintain inventory and ensure all equipment deliveries meet service goals and timelines
Process orders accurately and in a timely manner
Promote company products and services to referral sources within the community
Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs
Conduct patient assessments and re-assessments as needed
Ensure complete and accurate documentation for reimbursement purposes
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance programs
Adhere to all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle
Participate in on-call rotation as required
Travel throughout the service area to support patient needs
Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
1+ year of experience working with DME and customer service preferred
2-3 years of face-to-face customer service experience strongly preferred
Experience in healthcare, delivery services with a sales component, or military training is a plus
Valid, unrestricted driver's license
Strong communication skills with an emphasis on empathy, professionalism, and respect
Ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively
Basic understanding of reimbursement processes is a plus
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 75-85 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs
Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and handling of equipment
Ability to sit and drive for extended periods
Daily travel between warehouse and patient homes
Exposure to varying home environments, including unsanitary conditions at times
Possible exposure to hazardous materials, loud environments, and extreme temperatures
May encounter difficult customer situations
Must be able to access patient residences independently
Work Environment
Field-based role with frequent local travel
Combination of warehouse visits and in-home patient support
Fast-paced environment with varying workload demands throughout the day
Additional Requirements
Ability to follow all safety, PPE, and infection control procedures
Completion of required compliance training and ongoing education
Willingness to assist with equipment cleaning and maintenance when needed

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
Company car will be provided and full health package
