Job Description
Position Purpose
This position has the primary responsibility to recruit and counsel prospective students for St. Cloud State University in a professional manner across a variety of audiences. The successful applicant will participate in education fairs and recruitment events on and off campus, conduct formal presentations, conduct group meetings. In addition, this position will serve a liaison for prospective student scholarships, athletics, and/or group visits.
Responsibilities
Recruitment:
Recruit and counsel prospective students on the admissions policies and procedures for admission to St. Cloud State University on campus and at numerous community locations such as high schools and college fairs.
Recruiting prospective student includes but is not limited to: defining student's needs/wants; explaining and interpreting St. Cloud State programs, policies and procedures, and enrollment options; encouraging applications and registrations. These activities are carried out during early mornings, the regular workday, evenings and on weekends, and is done individually, electronically, by telephone, and in groups. In addition, this position problem-solve complex admissions cases to break down obstacles to enrollment. At times, this position has authorization to waive transcripts and make conditional admissions decisions.
Provide intake services to newly admitted students and students in the admissions process, and for students being readmitted, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the university's mission, academic programs, and procedures for all students.
Understand the complexities of applying to college and communicate current admissions requirements to prospective students accordingly.
Collaborate with other departments to assist prospective and admitted students by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of their admission status. In addition this position must maintain a strong relationship with student services offices and best practices.
Maintain knowledge of other department's current practices, policies, and procedures to advise prospective students accordingly. Assess, using a variety of metrics, as to whether recruitment activities, outreach and events are fruitful and beneficial to the university.
Territory Management:
Responsible for developing annual recruitment plan for their individual territory (incorporating institution strategic priorities developed by the Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management and the Executive Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Access that includes goals and assessment. This position is assigned to high schools and to a portion of the inquiry pool implement recruitment practices.
Read and analyze admissions data and reports in order to aid in development of a comprehensive recruitment and admissions strategy for the assigned territory.
The management and oversight of this territory includes:
Participate in, facilitate, coordinate and manage off-campus recruitment events.
Conduct group information meetings and participate in the information delivery systems to prospective students.
Data and assessment: Tracking student results for the territory including yield rates and return on investment for recruitment events and partnerships and the impact of external influences (such as economy, workforce needs, competition in the marketplace)
Recruitment events include, but are not limited to:
Classroom visits and presentations in schools
Career/job fairs
Community College Transfer Fairs
College Open House and Program Information Meetings
Community events
Education fairs
Virtual information sessions and events
This position must maintain current on programs, policies, and procedures to deliver accurate application information. This position communicates these changes back to the admissions the Executive Director of Recruitment & Access, when appropriate.
Liaison for prospective student scholarships, athletics, and/or group visits :
Responsible for distributing academic scholarships to prospective students, serving as a liaison to our athletic department (including coaches) and assisting with group visit. Annual outreach plan that includes goals and assessment.
Scholarships: Retrieve weekly admissions reports to award applicant's academic scholarship awards. Monitor scholarship awarding to align with SCSU's overall scholarship budget.
Athletics: Serve as liaison for SCSU's athletic department. Including meeting with varsity athletic recruits. In addition, working with athletic teams for special athletic visit days.
Make recommendations and decisions, in consultation with department leadership, on scholarship awarding to maximum enrollment capacity.
Participate as Admissions representative on various institution-wide committees and teams.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree plus one year of professional experience OR bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience OR equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or professional experience
Experience in College admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, and/or related experience working with post-traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations.
Excellent speaking, writing and organizational skills and experience
Must have the ability to work flexible hours, with occasional nights and weekends
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Twin Cities and St. Cloud territories
Preferred Qualification
3 years of professional experience in College admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, and/or related experience working with post-traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations.
Experience with cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships
Experience analyzing data and using results to inform/create strategy
Experience working with athletic programs
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic multi-campus organization within a team-oriented environment
Must be articulate and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. The ability to work as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives is essential.

Physical requirements (e.g. lifting and carrying equipment and materials, required overnight travel, etc.) Ability to lift and carry program materials weighing up to 30 lbs.

40-hour week in an office setting. This position will have a primary work site of the Twin Cities (Metro), along with the St. Cloud main campus. Travel to other sites, occasional evening and weekend work, and occasional overnight travel are expected.
