The Guernsey County Juvenile Court is seeking a Deputy Clerk.

Job Purpose:

Performs general clerical tasks for the Juvenile Court Clerks' office in accordance with this Court's local rules and the rules governing courts in the State of Ohio. General maintenance of all records required by section 2151.18 of the Ohio Revised Code.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(These duties include, but are not limited to):

? File/Stamp all necessary paperwork.

? Process all papers filed with the Court; docket and index.

? Make all necessary service and file return service, notify necessary parties of failure of service.

? Responsible for making all changes necessary and notifying all persons.

? On date of hearing, pull files for hearing and prepare for Judge.

? Compute court costs, accept costs and fines on any case, and issue receipt.

? Prepare entries for the Judge's signature.

? Distribute copies as necessary.

-Provide exceptional customer service while assisting the public and attorneys, both in person and by telephone.

-Answer telephones and direct calls as needed.

-Clerks process all paperwork that is necessary for each individual case. Such as setting up the original filing and processing any necessary notices of hearing, journal entries, and any other filings that may be required as each case dictates.

-Attend any training sessions as needed.

-Any and all other duties as required by the Judge.

-Assists in maintaining Court records.

-Deals with all juvenile traffic matters; Court and follow-up with license suspension, trial hearings, etc.

-Process all mail for the Court.

-Films each case in its entirety, and films additional paperwork in each case as necessary.

-Takes cash and electronic payments.

-Court reporting in Court hearings, and preparing all journal entries for the Judge's signature.

-Prepare and distribute schedules daily for all Court hearings.

Guernsey County Juvenile Court -- Position Description

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Position Qualifications: The ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with a high school graduate, or one who has earned their G.E.D. An Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred and/or prior work experience in a related field.

Critical Skills/Expertise: This @type of work requires a knowledge of courtroom procedure and rules, in addition to the ability to work with the often diverse members of the public.

Physical Effort and Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office setting. This work typically takes place while sitting at a desk or table, or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
