Summary The Wyoming Outpatient Clinic seeks a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant skilled in clinic operations, workflow coordination, and patient support. The incumbent oversees administrative processes, applies policies and procedures that impact workload data, and collaborates across multiple clinics to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery. As frontline contact with patients and staff, the Supervisory MSA sets the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services at the VA. Demonstrates ability to meet, communicate, and interact with individuals from varying backgrounds and with other health care team members in order to complete job assignments. Demonstrates ability to use various @types of office automation equipment and software, to include ability to set up, organize, and maintain record systems. Utilizes such programs and databases to make appointments in a clinical setting. Complies with Employee Education requirements by completing mandatory annual assignments through the TMS and complies with any other training or education requirements as determined by the supervisor. Grade Determinations: GS-8 (1) Experience. One year of creditable experience equivalent to the next lower grade. (2) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs: (a) Advanced knowledge of managing or leading patient support staff in a clinic. This includes independently utilizing reference sources, decision making, and 13 empowering the team to collaborate and resolve problems within a complex systems environment. (b) Ability to provide the full range of administrative and supervisory duties to at least one subordinate MSA supervisor or team leader in a patient support setting which includes assignment of work, performance evaluations, selection of staff, and recommendation of awards and/or advancements.(c) Ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate customer service and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers to ensure quality/continuity of care and ensure compliance with established policies and regulations. (d) Ability to provide briefings, orientations, staff development, and training in a patient support setting. (e) Ability to manage fiscal matters, forecast resource and equipment needs, and identify budget needs. It typically requires sitting with sustained periods of concentration. There will be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of relatively light objects.
