Job Description
The Electrical Assembler builds equipment and systems by assembling individual electrical and electromechanical components according to engineering specifications. This role focuses on benchwork, assembling wiring harnesses, power supplies, and other electrical assemblies and subassemblies for aircraft, in accordance with IPC 620 standards. The position involves reading and interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions, and completing harness and box builds accurately and within required timeframes.
Responsibilities
Assemble electrical and electronic components on wiring harnesses, power supplies, and other electrical assemblies or subassemblies according to engineering specifications.
Read and interpret engineering specifications from text, drawings, wiring diagrams, and computer-aided drafting systems to complete assigned work.
Perform all work as benchwork, building wiring harnesses and mechanical boxes for aircraft to IPC 620 standards.
Lay out wires using wiring diagrams, secure them, and prepare them for assembly.
Strip wires, cut heat shrink tubing, attach terminals, cover wires, and shrink tubing using a heat gun.
Interlace multiple wires and examine connectors to ensure proper fit, alignment, and quality.
Seal and crimp wires, attach terminals, and connect wires to male and female housings as specified.
Attach connectors and verify proper electrical connections and mechanical integrity of assemblies.
Perform mechanical assembly to build out boxes, including installing and securing components according to drawings and work instructions.
Use a variety of hand tools, assembly tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete assemblies accurately.
Follow work instructions and quality standards to ensure timely and accurate completion of harness and box builds.
Work primarily on less complex assignments while maintaining high quality and consistency.
Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, conformance to IPC 620 standards, and adherence to engineering requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials and tools safely and efficiently.
Essential Skills
1+ year of experience in wire harness assembly and box building.
Proficiency in harness assembly, including wire preparation, routing, and termination.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
Hands-on experience with electrical assembly and mechanical assembly tasks.
Experience with wire harnesses and electromechanical assembly in any industry.
Ability to build wiring harnesses and mechanical boxes to IPC 620 standards.
IPC 620 (Wire Harness Assembly) certification.
High school diploma.
Ability to perform all work at the bench using appropriate tools and precision measuring instruments.
Capability to work accurately and efficiently to meet quality and time requirements.
Willingness to work on less complex assignments while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
IPC J-STD certification is a plus but not required.
Experience assembling harnesses for aircraft is highly relevant.
Mechanical aptitude for building out electrical boxes and enclosures.
Prior military experience performing intermediate-level (I-Level) electrical or harness work is acceptable.
Comfort working with heat guns, crimping tools, and other hand and bench tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed engineering and quality standards.
Ability to adapt skills from wire harness assembly in other industries to aircraft applications.

Work Environment
Work takes place in a clean, air-conditioned facility designed for comfort and productivity. All work is performed at the bench, focusing on detailed electrical and mechanical assembly tasks using standard hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and equipment such as heat guns. The environment includes breakrooms and well-maintained common areas. Candidates must be open to working either 1st shift (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. start). The facility maintains a professional setting suitable for precision electrical and mechanical assembly work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $29.00/hr.
