Job Title: Skilled Laborer - Commercial Carpentry Crew Lead
Job Description
This role combines hands-on commercial carpentry with field leadership responsibilities across multiple job sites. You oversee crews on commercial construction projects while actively performing carpentry tasks to help meet project deadlines. You also track project progress using a project management system and use digital tools to stay organized and connected.
Responsibilities
Oversee and lead crews of laborers and carpenters on commercial construction job sites across Western New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
Perform hands-on commercial carpentry work, including metal and wood stud framing, rough carpentry, finish work, trim installation, and related tasks as needed to meet project timelines.
Monitor daily progress on site and ensure work aligns with project plans, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Track project status and update information accurately in the project management system.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members and site personnel to organize work, resolve issues, and maintain productivity.
Use phones, tablets, laptops, and project management software to document work, access plans, and report progress.
Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for framing, drywall, and general carpentry tasks.
Support and promote a strong safety culture by following OSHA standards and company safety procedures at all times.
Travel between multiple commercial construction sites within the region as required by project needs.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of commercial carpentry experience, including work with metal and wood studs, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and trim work.
Proficiency in framing and drywall installation in commercial environments.
OSHA 10 certification.
Ability to lead and oversee crews of laborers and carpenters on active construction sites.
Experience using hand tools and power tools commonly used in commercial carpentry.
Ability to use phones, tablets, and Microsoft Office applications to support daily work and project tracking.
Capability to commute regularly to various commercial job sites across Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working on commercial, industrial, hospitality, and educational construction projects.
Familiarity with construction project management platforms such as Procore.
Strong organizational skills to track project status and maintain accurate documentation.
Solid understanding of construction safety practices and quality systems.
Carpentry trade experience with broad exposure to commercial construction environments.

Work Environment
You work on commercial construction job sites across Western New York, including Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, primarily in commercial, industrial, hospitality, and educational settings. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regular travel between sites and mileage compensation for commuting. The environment is field-based and hands-on, involving the daily use of hand tools, power tools, and digital devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets. You operate within a safety-focused culture that follows OSHA standards and utilizes structured quality and project management systems.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
