The Early Works Construction Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of early-stage construction activities for mission-critical data center projects. This role is responsible for preparing sites for full-scale construction, including enabling works such as utilities, grading, infrastructure readiness, and initial MEP installations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in construction management, MEP systems, and contract/vendor coordination within large-scale, high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities
Early Works Planning & Execution
Lead all early works construction activities, including site preparation, civil work, temporary utilities, and enabling infrastructure
Collaborate with design, engineering, and preconstruction teams to ensure constructability and readiness for full project buildout
Manage project schedules, ensuring early work milestones align with overall data center delivery timelines
Site Infrastructure & MEP Coordination
Oversee installation and coordination of early-stage MEP infrastructure, including temporary power, underground utilities, and initial distribution systems
Support future deployment of critical systems such as UPS, generators, and cooling systems by ensuring foundational readiness
Ensure all work aligns with industry standards for scalability, redundancy, and reliability
Vendor & Contractor Management
Act as the primary point of contact for general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors during early project phases
Manage contracts, scope alignment, and vendor performance to meet cost, schedule, and quality expectations
Drive accountability for safety, execution, and deliverable timelines
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
Ensure all early works construction adheres to local codes, NEC, NFPA, and life safety standards
Conduct inspections and implement quality assurance processes
Risk & Issue Management
Identify and mitigate risks related to site readiness, permitting, utilities, and construction sequencing
Escalate and resolve issues that may impact schedule, cost, or downstream construction activities
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate project documentation including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and progress reports
Provide regular updates to stakeholders with data-driven insights and status reporting
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong experience in construction project management, preferably in large-scale or mission-critical environments
Working knowledge of MEP systems, utilities, and infrastructure development
Experience managing early works, site enablement, or preconstruction phases
Proven ability in vendor and contract management
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting data center construction projects
Familiarity with hyperscale or enterprise data center standards
Retrofit or infrastructure conversion projects
Knowledge of telecom, fiber, and structured cabling infrastructure

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
