Summary The Department of Justice offers Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services and resources to Federal Department of Justice employees and their eligible family members, including confidential counseling and referrals. We provide the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Attorneys' Office employees and their immediate family members, with free, confidential support for personal and professional challenges. Responsibilities This Supervisory Social Worker is the community-wide expert and staff advisor to EOUSA and United States Attorney's Office (USAO) staff throughout the nation on a myriad of employee wellness issues. The program overseen is demanding, requiring a unique mixture of managerial expertise, technical skills, and adaptability to meet new challenges. In addition, the incumbent personally provides assessment and short-term counseling nationwide for employees of the EOUSA and USAO with problems associated with stress management, mental illness, substance abuse, chemical dependency, grief and loss, domestic violence, marital, parenting and family issues and the myriad of problems that affect employees in their professional and personal lives. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Supervisory Social Worker support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia, located in Washington, District of Columbia, focusing in the areas of employee assistance program management; counseling support, advice and guidance. Typical work assignments will include: Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Establishes methods of operation to coordinate and facilitate mission accomplishment, promote team building, and implement quality solutions for effective improvements. Personally, provides counseling support to the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA) and United States Attorney Office (USAO) employees, which includes assessment and short-term counseling for employees with problems that affect employees in their professional and personal lives. Provides services directly or refers to appropriate services outside the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Develops appropriate problem-solving plan for each referral including selection of resources, preparation of the client for services, and preparation of the resource for clients. Prepares and presents briefings regarding controversial and novel issues, participates in drafting and negotiating joint reports, and assures senior level officials are informed of developments in a timely manner. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required basic requirement and specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Basic Requirement: Master's degree with practicum: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) that included a practicum. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in DOJ must possess a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently as recognized in the state licensed, whereby clinical supervision is not required. To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) ALL of the duties listed below: Leading a team of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselors or social work professionals; Providing oversight and guidance on federal EAP policies and procedures; Allocating caseloads among EAP staff; Ensuring quality case management of EAP clients through consultations and referral to appropriate services outside the EAP.
