Project Accounting Lead
Job Description
The Project Accounting Lead will drive key workstreams within a high-impact audit and system implementation project, focusing on data cleanup, accounting design, and process improvements. This role will design and document future-state accounting processes and controls, support audit remediation activities, and collaborate closely with high level accounting leadership while a new accounting function is established.
Responsibilities
Own and lead one or more workstreams focused on data cleanup and accounting design as part of a cross-functional project team.
Design, document, and implement go-forward accounting processes and internal controls to support a robust control environment.
Support audit remediation efforts by helping address audit findings and strengthen control design and documentation.
Collaborate closely with the Royalty Accounting Director and VP of Accounting to align project deliverables with ongoing close and reporting activities.
Provide subject matter expertise in royalty accounting and general ledger processes to guide system and process decisions.
Support system implementation and migration activities involving SAP and Biblio, including testing, validation, and reconciliation of financial data.
Assist with data migration efforts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial and royalty-related data.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting quality.
Provide audit support by preparing documentation, answering inquiries, and ensuring that accounting records meet audit standards.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that new accounting processes and systems meet business requirements and compliance expectations.
Essential Skills
Strong accounting experience with a solid understanding of general ledger processes.
Hands-on experience with SAP in an accounting or finance @context.
Experience with audit processes, including audit support and remediation activities.
Experience in designing and implementing internal controls within an accounting environment.
Experienced in system migration or implementation, particularly for financial or ERP systems.
Knowledge of royalty accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in general accounting and audit support activities.
Ability to own and manage workstreams within a cross-functional project team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Biblio is preferred, particularly in the @context of royalty or rights management.
Experience with data migration projects, including data validation and reconciliation.
Demonstrated track record of driving process improvement within accounting or finance functions.
Experience with audit cleanup projects or similar remediation initiatives.
Strong documentation skills for processes, controls, and accounting policies.
Ability to collaborate effectively with high level accounting leaders and cross-functional partners.
Work Environment
This role offers a 100% remote work environment, providing flexibility to work from any location that supports collaboration with the project team. There is also an option to work onsite, with the opportunity to join colleagues for in-office collaboration and team lunches up to three days per week. The position is embedded in a dynamic project setting focused on a major SAP and Biblio system implementation and migration, with a strong emphasis on audit quality, data integrity, and continuous process improvement.

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.
