Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (3rd Shift)
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing highly automated distribution center systems, with a strong emphasis on conveyor equipment and preventative maintenance. You will work on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, ensuring that a large, fast-paced facility with extensive conveyor lines and robotic shuttles operates safely and efficiently during 3rd shift.
Responsibilities
Respond to system issues involving conveyors, powered industrial equipment (PIE), sortation systems, and controls, including EMS, WCS, Sort Director, EWM, hardware, and software components.
Perform basic and advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system components for conveyor systems and building equipment.
Maintain and repair control systems, including PLCs, DC drives, AC inverters, linear motors, VFDs, encoders, scanners, power distribution equipment, communication systems, computer-controlled building systems, and conveyor systems.
Serve as a subject matter expert for conveyor systems, cross-belt systems, and the Dematic Multi-Shuttle / Goods-to-Person system.
Perform extensive preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors and related systems within a distribution center environment.
Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the distribution center safely and efficiently.
Work at heights and in unusual positions to access and service equipment as needed.
Apply safe work practices consistently, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and Arc Flash safety standards.
Follow applicable codes and regulations such as NEC, BOCA, UBC, MSDS, and OSHA requirements.
Design, implement, and document PLC programming changes (Siemens and similar platforms) to automated equipment when authorized.
Troubleshoot and implement changes to I/O device networks such as Profibus, Data Highway, and CanBus.
Complete Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) repairs and perform other building maintenance tasks as required.
Use electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, and gauges to diagnose issues and verify repairs.
Read and interpret Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing drawings and schematics to plan and execute repairs and modifications.
Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work orders, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
Collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment and with leadership to prioritize work and minimize downtime.
Lift, push, pull, and slide packages typically weighing 50-75 pounds as part of daily maintenance activities.
Operate in compliance with OSHA and Hazardous Materials guidelines at all times.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of building and equipment maintenance experience, including at least 2 years maintaining Dematic or similar conveyor systems.
2+ years of experience with AC drives, including set-up, programming, and fault diagnostics.
Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical skills with the ability to perform thorough troubleshooting and repairs.
Demonstrated experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance in a distribution center or similar industrial environment.
Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and electrical maintenance for industrial systems.
Experience with power distribution, power generation, control circuits, and electrical test equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and related components.
Ability to read and interpret Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) drawings and schematics.
Familiarity with Microsoft applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide packages typically weighing 50-75 pounds.
Ability to work safely at heights and in confined or unusual positions.
Knowledge and application of safe work practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash standards.
Ability to operate material handling and mobile equipment in a distribution center setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience maintaining Dematic, Intelligrated, or similar large-scale conveyor and sortation systems.
Experience with cross-belt sortation and multi-shuttle or Goods-to-Person systems.
Experience working with VFDs, DC drives, AC inverters, linear motors, encoders, and scanners.
Experience troubleshooting and modifying PLC programs, particularly Siemens or comparable platforms.
Experience with I/O device networks such as Profibus, Data Highway, and CanBus.
Familiarity with EMS, WCS, Sort Director, and EWM control systems.
Experience using a CMMS to track and manage maintenance activities.
Comfort working in a high-volume distribution center with extensive conveyor miles and robotic shuttles.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to working safely and in compliance with NEC, BOCA, UBC, MSDS, OSHA, and Hazardous Materials guidelines.

Work Environment
This is a 3rd shift position with scheduled hours from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday night through Friday night, ending early Saturday morning. You will work in a large, highly automated distribution center environment featuring extensive conveyor systems and robotic shuttles. The role requires tolerance for exposure to varying temperatures (heat and cold), noise, dust, and constant movement of equipment. You will work around moving machinery and must consistently follow OSHA and Hazardous Materials guidelines. The position operates within a team-based setting, where collaboration and communication are important to keep systems running smoothly. Tools and a uniform are provided, and safety shoes are supplied where applicable, supporting a professional and safety-focused work environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $64480.00 - $96553.00/yr.
Starting pay for Maint Tech II -$30.90-$38.68/hr, plus $1.00 per hour shift differential
Maint Tech III - $35.38-$44.22/ hr, plus $1.00 per hour shift differential
