DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the financial operations of the PA Municipal Retirement System through detailed accounting work and careful review of financial activity. As an Accountant 2, you will perform the following duties:
Accrual Entries:Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end accrual entries for financial reporting
Ledger Review:Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and research differences
Cash Reconciliation:Perform monthly cash reconciliation and compare SAP and Treasury reports
Plan Reporting:Post and reconcile employer level financial data for more than 1,000 pension plans
Budget Support:Assist in preparing the annual budget and monthly financial reports
Financial Analysis:Perform analytical reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency in reports

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, two days a week in the office after successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Accountant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
Two years of professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
