Summary:
Reality Labs (RL) at Meta develops and builds cutting-edge Virtual and Augmented Reality products and related Accessories. The role of a Supply Planner is high-impact and complex. The Supply Planner is responsible for end-to-end supply chain planning and will act as the single point of contact for global supply availability for the products in their portfolio. This spans capacity and factory scheduling, leading the supply input into the weekly (tactical) and monthly (strategic) Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, managing ex-factory and supply commit processes at contract manufacturing sites, and steering all stages of inventory planning from New Product Introduction (NPI) to End of Life (EOL) for hero products and accessories. The role requires the ability to formulate and solve constrained optimization problems across multi-tier supply networks, model yield dynamics for technically complex modules, incorporate component-level technical specifications - such as battery degradation behavior, etc. - that impact build feasibility and product longevity across the program lifecycle, and develop a deep understanding of NPI ramp plans to align production ramp-up schedules with yield, capacity readiness, and launch timelines.
Required Skills:
Supply Planner, Reality Labs Responsibilities:
Serve as the single point of contact for global supply planning and product availability for the products in their portfolio
Engage in the monthly S&OP activities for assigned products, providing recommendations for finished goods, materials, and capacity plans informed by yield-adjusted output models and constraint analysis
Engage in the weekly S&OE process for assigned products, providing information to cross-functional teams to support supply and demand planning objectives
Develop weekly capacity/material constrained production plans (Build Plan/Master Production Schedule) to fulfill the requirements created in the Demand Plan. Formulate these as constrained optimization problems - defining objective functions (e.g., maximize fill rate, minimize total landed cost), decision variables (allocation quantities, line assignments, build sequences), and constraints (capacity limits, component lead times, MOQs, contractual commitments) - and leverage internal planning tools and solvers to arrive at optimized solutions
Accountable for creating, communicating, and monitoring detailed requested ship plans at the contract manufacturing sites (forecast, commitments, build plans, PO creation)
Understand multi-channel demand signals for the products in the assigned portfolios and provide actionable recommendations to respond to and adjust trends (e-commerce, retail, enterprise, non-revenue)
Accountable for the identification and resolution of supply issues, including assisting in sourcing materials, communication, escalation, and coordination of resolution
Develop and manage inbound priorities using constraint-based allocation logic to ensure critical path materials are sequenced for maximum production efficiency
Incorporate component-level technical specifications - such as battery cycle life, degradation curves, and state-of-charge thresholds - into planning models to ensure finished goods inventory is built and sustained across the entire program lifetime while maintaining desired charging levels for a high-quality customer experience (CX)
Assess and model yield rates for technically complex modules (e.g., optical waveguides, display stacks, battery cells) to derive accurate production output forecasts. Account for yield ramp curves during NPI, steady-state yield variability in mass production, and fallout rates at key process steps to ensure build plans reflect achievable output rather than theoretical capacity
Partner with NPI Operations and factory teams to develop optimized capacity plans that balance production throughput requirements against overall CapEx investment, ensuring capital-efficient line configurations and equipment utilization across the manufacturing network
Partner with Channel Operations, NPI Operations, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to plan and execute successful product launches - aligning supply readiness, channel fill requirements, regional allocation strategies, and go-to-market timelines
Create and maintain inventory plans for finished goods across regional DCs considering operational and fulfillment service policies, financial targets, and cost-effective transportation considerations
Partner with Contract Manufacturing Operations to ensure that site capacities are properly modeled and optimized across the network in meeting customer demand, incorporating line-level throughput constraints and changeover times into planning models
Partner with Sourcing teams to develop sourcing strategies for technically complex modules - providing demand signals, and supply risk inputs that inform supplier qualification, dual-source decisions, and capacity reservation strategies
Accountable for supply chain key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with the assigned product portfolio - including plan adherence, inventory turns, and fill rate
Lead automation and development initiatives related to planning systems and tools - including solver integration, optimization model development, scenario simulation engines, and data pipeline enhancements that improve planning accuracy and decision speed
