Title Occupational Therapist

Location Positions in Mansfield, Marion and Tiffin

Job Summary

Occupational therapists contribute educationally relevant services and early intervening activities for struggling general education students, evaluate students to determine special education eligibility, develop student individualized education program (IEP) goals and collaborate with others to provide and support student success across all school environments. Service delivery is along a continuum of prevention, promotion and intervention to serve individual students, groups of students, whole classrooms and whole-school initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of accredited Occupational Therapy program

Valid Ohio Occupational Therapy license. Valid Ohio pupil services credential

Valid driver's license

Minimum of one year of occupational therapy experience including providing services to school-aged children

Working knowledge of regulatory standards, ethical/legal responsibilities, and policies related to physical therapy in schools including DEW requirements

Strong relationship building, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills with school/campus staff, parents, and internal/external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence

Analytical ability to conduct complex fact-finding investigations and develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns in a timely manner

Ability to read, analyze and interpret assessment results and use the results to develop treatment/intervention plans and classroom strategies that are appropriate to the educational goals of the student (and within the student's least restrictive environment)

Ability to multi-task and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with high levels of quality and accuracy

Ability to effectively communicate and present information to NCOESC administration, staff, parents, and other stakeholders

May require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, CPI and/or behavioral management training or other training as needed

The employee shall remain free of alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the ESC

Proficiency with use of technology hardware and basic software (i.e., Microsoft office), email, and office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Proficiency with web-based applications (i.e., Google Docs, DEWs website, social media, etc.), and NCOESC databases

Ability to preserve confidentiality of student information and records

Clearances Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances.
