Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Avionics R&D and IntegrationJob Description
This role focuses on research and development, prototyping, and integration of avionics subsystems and aircraft electrical components for aerospace and defense applications. You will design, test, and validate electrical systems, work hands-on in the lab with avionics hardware, and support certification and documentation activities in a highly visible, high-impact engineering environment.
Responsibilities
Design and proto@type avionics subsystems and aircraft electrical components, including power systems, control units, instrumentation, and accessories.
Develop, update, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface definitions for new and modified systems.
Execute rapid design iterations based on test data, failure analysis, and evolving program requirements.
Perform hands-on electrical testing, integration, and validation of avionics hardware in a lab environment.
Develop detailed test plans, procedures, and custom test setups or fixtures to validate system functionality and performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues across analog, digital, and power electronics domains.
Integrate avionics systems with aircraft interfaces, including power distribution systems, communication buses, and mission systems.
Support system-level integration across multiple subsystems and coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Work directly on avionics equipment such as navigation, communication, and electrical accessory systems.
Support development activities aligned to aerospace and defense standards and program requirements.
Contribute to requirements definition, verification, and validation efforts for airborne systems.
Support preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation required for certification, qualification, and customer deliverables.
Provide technical ownership over assigned systems and components throughout the concept, proto@type, integration, and validation lifecycle.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
3-10+ years of experience in aerospace, avionics, or defense-related engineering.
Hands-on experience with hardware prototyping, system integration, and electrical system testing.
Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Proficiency with lab and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, and signal generators.
Experience working with analog, digital, and power electronics in an aerospace or defense @context.
Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues across multiple domains and subsystems.
Experience with avionics or aircraft electrical systems integration and validation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Direct experience with Honeywell avionics systems, components, or platforms is strongly preferred.
Exposure to Honeywell communication, navigation, tracking, or mission system components is highly valued.
Experience working with OEM avionics in certified aerospace environments.
Prior support of military or defense programs.
Familiarity with avionics architectures such as GPS/INS, radio and communication systems, and aircraft instrumentation.
Knowledge of aerospace and avionics standards such as DO-160, DO-254, and ARP4754.
Experience with power electronics, aircraft electrical distribution, or electromechanical systems.
Exposure to FAA, EASA, or other regulated certification environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional engineering teams.
Comfort working in a lean, high-impact engineering environment with direct technical ownership.
