What You'll Work On
Develops, implements, and manages safety programs in accordance with OSHA, DOT, RCRA, EPA, ADEQ, AZ Bureau of Radiation Control, and Abbott standards.
Serve as the site lead for the waste management program (non-hazardous, hazardous, universal, E-waste, and recycling waste)
Track and manage waste tonnage and expenses for monthly entry into Abbott's Envirometrics program
Serve as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and Laser Safety Officer (LSO), and manage compliance for the site's x-ray and laser units
Manage the site's Hazard Communication and Safety Data Sheet program
Attend and lead Safety Committee meetings and employee outreach events.
Prepare EHS presentations and written communications, and present to site leadership and employees.
Implements and manages company policies and procedures.
Conducts risk assessments and inspections.
Supports internal and external audits/inspections
Support emergency response and preparedeness program requirements
Develops and conducts EHS training, including new hire orientations.
Maintain files and records pertaining to safety, environmental and industrial hygiene.
Perform accident/incident investigations and corrective action review.
Conduct frequent plant audits to evaluate regulatory compliance performance and develop corrective actions.
Review the installation and modification of equipment/processes for EHS issues.
Support coordination of Indutrial Hygiene assessments
Support contractor management processes
Assist Senior EHS Specialists with a variety of environmental and safety programs.
Stay informed on current EHS regulations and legislation and recommend policy changes.
Serve as a member of the site's Emergency Response Team, which includes responses to medical and environmental incidents.
Additional Skills
Working knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, RCRA, EPA, DOT).
Working knowledge of safety programs: LOTO, Powered Industrial Trucks, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Machine Safety, Ergonomics, Hearing Conservation, HAZWOPER, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Job Hazard Analysis, etc.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into policies and procedures.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to make good decisions.
Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to drive behavior-based safety program and site safety culture improvement.
Solid strategic, problem solving and analytical skills.
Program management skills, including proven ability to deliver thorough and timely solutions to issues and initiatives.
Ability to work independently to drive for results.
Flexibility to come in on off-shifts and weekends as needed to conduct training, accident investigations, etc.
You'll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required - Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 3 - 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting
Waste management experience and/or professional certification (e.g. CHMM, CWMP, CPWM)
Radiation Safety Officer/Laser Safety Officer

The base pay for this position is $50,700.00 - $101,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
