This position serves as administrative and technical support in the Training and Development Section within the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP). The Program Coordinator duties include the following:

Assess training needs and develop methods of improvement.

Monitor and request instructors to deliver training for both CIST and Academy.

Ensure areas of responsibility meet POST Board and MSP policy requirements.

Assist Information Technology Coordinator with technical production.

Provide office support duties in a close and confidential capacity.

Provide administrative and technical support to the Director of the Academy.

This position may telework up to 50% of the time depending on the needs of the division. The ability to telework will be evaluated after successful completion of the probationary period.

The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.

Minimum Qualifications

Skill in typing/keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner

Ability to manage an office or work area by planning, organizing, administering, and directing the work of other employees

Ability to write and edit materials for a variety of audiences, including review for grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Skill in database management sufficient to set up and run basic queries, review, and analyze data, and identify problem areas in areas which may include data, formulas, or security

Ability to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in design tools for creating, managing, and coordinating e-learning projects

Experience working in a law enforcement setting

Experience making travel arrangements and expense tracking

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities

Physical Requirements

Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
