Job Title: Sales Estimator
Job Description
This role supports the sales department of a premier manufacturer and supplier of temperature sensors, electrical enclosures, and electro-mechanical assembly services for industrial applications. As a Sales Specialist / Sales Engineer, you will translate customer needs and technical specifications into accurate sales proposals and quotations, helping to maximize sales and margin growth. You will provide technical sales support to current and prospective customers, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, and will report to the Sales Manager.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Respond to customer and prospect inquiries with solution-oriented, timely, and accurate proposals.
Review customer specifications to determine required equipment specifications, features, and special requirements.
Collaborate closely with engineering and technical staff to clarify customer needs and develop appropriate specifications and solutions.
Provide strategic product recommendations, pricing options, and technical solutions that align with customer requirements and company objectives.
Compile, write, and revise customer and prospect proposals and quotations using Microsoft Excel and other tools.
Participate in sales calls, customer meetings, and presentations to support business development and account growth.
Expand existing accounts and identify, pursue, and secure new accounts in assigned markets or territories.
Interpret customer blueprints and drawings and work with engineers to prepare accurate quotes and proposals.
Manage assigned accounts by monitoring activity, addressing issues, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Work under changing priorities, managing multiple projects and proposals simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Support internal communication between sales, engineering, and operations to ensure accurate order execution and customer fulfillment.
Essential Skills
Proven sales experience in a technical or industrial environment, including experience supporting outside sales or account expansion.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manage quotations and proposals.
Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain organized records of quotes and customer information.
Blueprint reading skills, with the ability to interpret customer prints and technical drawings.
Experience collaborating with engineers and technical staff to develop accurate quotes and solutions.
Account management experience, including expanding existing accounts and creating new accounts.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing proposals, quotations, and customer correspondence.
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to provide solution-oriented support and recommendations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, a technical field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry.
General knowledge of temperature measurement or sensors is a plus.
Experience working with industrial products such as temperature sensors, electrical enclosures, or electro-mechanical assemblies is beneficial.
Experience supporting large, key accounts in a manufacturing or industrial @context is an advantage.
Ability to participate confidently in sales calls, meetings, and presentations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when preparing technical proposals and quotations.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment with standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, on a daily basis to prepare quotes, proposals, and documentation. The position involves regular collaboration with engineering and technical teams, as well as frequent interaction with customers via calls, meetings, and presentations. The organization operates within a growing manufacturing setting, offering opportunities to develop within the company and potentially transition from a contract to a permanent role with advancement in responsibility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northampton, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
