This is a highly responsible accounting work in the Bank Reconciliation Unit within the Financial Management Section of the Department of Children and Family Services. The incumbent provides Bank Reconciliation financial services to all the appropriations in the Department of Children and Family Services. Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Implement financial operational policies and procedures, maintaining and controlling bank reconciliations and coordinating the activities of the Bank Reconciliation Unit to ensure and provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
Research discrepancies and processes adjustments in the Centralized Bank Reconciliation System as needed.
Prepares correspondence and documents for bank adjustments and/ or interoffice adjustments.
Develops, implements and maintains internal controls to ensure adequate treatment of the documents and the appropriate application of rules, regulations and procedures as they relate to the liquidation of agency and employer liabilities.
Establishes and implements new work procedures for the Bank Recon Unit. Confers with administrators regarding problem areas and makes recommendations for increasing efficiency, and for procedural changes.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Accountant 1-3 depending on experience.
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
