The Custodial Worker 1 with the Department of Human Services plays an important role in helping the hospital stay clean and welcoming. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and supportive hospital environment through basic housekeeping and sewing tasks. This role is essential to keeping Danville State Hospital running smoothly and ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors have a pleasant and comfortable experience. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
General Cleaning:Clean and wipe surfaces, remove trash, and maintain sanitary conditions in assigned areas
Outdoor Upkeep:Sweep steps and ramps, clean entrance areas, and handle snow or ice removal
Equipment Care:Inspect and clean housekeeping tools, cords, and equipment surfaces to ensure safe operation
Sewing and Repairs:Repair clothing, linens, and textiles using hand tools and sewing machines
Laundry Support:Sort, tag, and mark clothing and linens and maintain the sewing room
Material Handling:Gather and dispose of waste, recyclable items, and hazardous materials following safety guidelines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with every other weekend off, and a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
Overtime as needed

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
