Medical Office Assistant / Patient Service Representative
Location: Annapolis, MD (On-site)
Pay: $21-$23/hour (flexible based on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (30-minute break)
Type: Contract with potential of conversion
Overview
We are looking for a professional and customer-focused Medical Office Assistant to join a busy specialty physician practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and is looking to build a long-term career in healthcare administration.
This is a highly visible, patient-facing role where strong communication skills and attention to detail are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule patient appointments and manage provider calendars
Answer high-volume inbound calls and assist with patient inquiries
Greet and check in patients, providing a positive and professional experience
Verify insurance information and collect required documentation
Maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system
Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support daily operations
Ensure compliance with office procedures and patient confidentiality standards
Required Qualifications
1-2+ years of experience in a healthcare administrative or front desk role
Examples: medical receptionist, scheduler, patient access, medical secretary
EPIC EMR experience is required
Strong customer service and communication skills
Excellent phone etiquette and professionalism
Strong computer skills and attention to detail
Experience in a specialty medical practice preferred
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
Pediatrics or specialty clinic experience
Medical Assistant (MA) background with front office experience
Experience with insurance verification and patient intake
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Work Environment
Specialty physician practice setting (vascular surgery and related specialties)
Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Frequent interaction with providers and patients
Occasional travel to a nearby clinic may be required (1-2 times per month)

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
