Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Contract position based in Worcester, Massachusetts. This role will contribute to accurate financial reporting, maintain strong records across daily accounting activities, and assist with tax-related work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, and corporate tax processes while working effectively with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.

Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support reliable month-end reporting.

Assist with the preparation of corporate tax filings and related supporting documentation.

Manage sales tax activities, including tracking obligations, compiling data, and helping ensure timely submissions.

Support the close process by organizing financial records and maintaining accounting documentation.

Review accounting data for accuracy and completeness while identifying issues that require correction.

Partner with internal teams to gather financial information needed for reporting and tax compliance. Requirements - Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

Knowledge of general ledger processes and journal entry preparation.

Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and corporate tax return support.

Experience handling sales tax reporting and related accounting tasks.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.

Proficiency in analyzing account activity and resolving variances.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a Contract position environment.
