Summary
The Operations Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of our Field Operations business group. The Operations Accountant is tasked with ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for the 35 service centers as well as the four construction teams. The Operations Accountant is an integral part of the larger Accounting team and will have broader responsibilities beyond Field Operations. The Operations Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller but will serve as a key partner to the VP of Field Operations providing meaningful analysis and metrics to successfully profitably grow the Field Operations business segment.
Essential Job Duties
Serves as the primary finance partner for the VP of Field Operations developing, populating and monitoring relevant KPI's for service centers and construction crews.
Performs job and labor profitability analysis of service center and construction activities to drive ongoing operational performance improvement.
Designs innovative management reporting tools for timely decision making.
Analyzes monthly financial and operational results and provide recommendations to Management.
Conducts annual service center physical inventories including monitoring of slow-moving inventory and inter-shop transfers.
Compiles and reviews commissions for Service technicians.
Reviews warranty transactions for validity and accuracy.
Reviews and reconciles construction WIP entries.
Performs month end close activities including accurate revenue recognition and cost matching/maintenance of accurate GL expense coding throughout the month.
Leads the annual budget process for the Service business.
Other duties as assigned.
Additionally, the Operations Accountant will lead special projects such as:
Develop a new construction accounting process, redesign including evaluation, selection and implementation of new software.
Develop a new construction project profitability review process and procedures to improve job costing techniques.
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an Accounting or Finance role.
Experience in supporting full P&L activities from revenue to operation contribution.
Demonstrated problem solving, quantitative analysis and analytical abilities.
Skilled at handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
Highly motivated with ability to drive results and work independently.
Work in a team environment with changing priorities and time constraints.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) required.
Knowledge and prior experience with Power BI preferred.
Strong written communication skills.
