Job Title: Machine Operator - Food Production
Job Description
This role operates production machinery in a high-volume food manufacturing environment, focusing on mixing and the initial stages of tortilla production. You will handle ingredients, monitor and adjust equipment, and accurately record production data in the ERP system while following strict food safety and hygiene standards.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor mixing machines and related production equipment at the start of the tortilla production line.

Set up production machinery, including equipment start-ups and adjustments, to meet product specifications for size, weight, and quality.
Adjust machine settings such as oven temperatures, mesh belt speed, and other parameters to ensure products meet required standards.
Properly and safely replace mesh and Teflon belts as needed to keep equipment running efficiently.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds of ingredients and formula consistently throughout the day.
Weigh ingredients accurately, pour them into large mixing bowls, and document all components added to each batch.
Push and maneuver mixing bowls filled with product safely within the production area.
Enter production data, recipes, and settings into the ERP/HMI system (such as Plex) and maintain accurate electronic records.
Verify and confirm recipes, seasonings, weights, sizes, and accuview settings for all changeovers and product runs according to ERP system requirements.
Clearly and accurately complete all required production paperwork and digital documentation.
Accurately record production waste using correct system settings and troubleshoot discrepancies when waste data is not correct.
Work closely with the maintenance team to identify, report, and help resolve equipment issues.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with food safety and housekeeping standards.
Actively participate in food safety and food defense activities, following all related policies and procedures.
Assist the sanitation department with equipment cleaning and ensure all parts are properly reassembled after cleaning.
Follow all gowning and hygiene requirements, including use of hair nets, beard nets, hearing protection, and other provided PPE.
Work on your feet for approximately 8 hours per shift in a fast-paced, hot production environment.
Collaborate with the area lead to coordinate two 30-minute breaks during the shift, one paid and one unpaid, based on production needs.
Consistently show reliable attendance and a strong commitment to learning and advancing within the production environment.
Essential Skills
1-2 years of experience operating production machinery, including equipment set-ups, start-ups, and adjustments to meet product specifications.
Experience in food production or food manufacturing; bakery experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to lift between 30-55 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
Comfort working in a hot environment that can reach up to 100 degrees near ovens.
Ability to perform in a very fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
Comfort working with computers, including entering and updating production data in an ERP or HMI system.
Basic English or Spanish language skills, both written and verbal, to understand instructions and complete documentation.
Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 8 hours a day.
Willingness and ability to wear a full gown, hair net, and beard net if applicable, as well as hearing protection.
Ability to work safely and effectively in an environment where flour and gluten particles are present in the air.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Food production machine operating experience, with mixing or blending experience preferred but not mandatory.

Familiarity with food manufacturing processes, including handling dough and formula.
Basic understanding of ERP systems such as Plex or similar production data platforms.
Strong attention to detail when weighing ingredients, documenting batches, and recording waste.

Ability to follow strict food safety, hygiene, and contamination-prevention guidelines, including not wearing makeup, fake eyelashes, jewelry, or nail polish on the production floor.

Work Environment
This position is based in a food production facility that manufactures tortillas for large brands, with a focus on mixing and early-stage processing. The environment can become very hot, reaching up to approximately 100 degrees near ovens, and the work is fast paced with continuous movement. You will work around flour, dough, and formula, so gluten particles may be present in the air. The role requires standing on your feet for about 8 hours per shift and performing frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds. You will use production machinery, mixing equipment, mesh and Teflon belts, and computer-based ERP/HMI systems such as Plex for data entry and equipment settings. The facility provides all necessary personal protective equipment, including full gowns, hair nets, beard nets if needed, and hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs). Strict hygiene and contamination-prevention standards apply, which means you cannot wear makeup, fake eyelashes, jewelry, nail polish, or other items that could fall off and contaminate food. Breaks consist of two 30-minute periods per shift-one paid and one unpaid-coordinated with the area lead based on production needs, and the dress code allows the option to wear shorts on the production floor while still meeting all safety and food safety requirements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
