Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer II (ME II) is responsible for leading, implementing and measuring day-to-day, and longer-term improvements to our products, processes and overall capabilities during product development, transition to manufacturing and sustained production. They partner with all stakeholders, including design engineering, production, supply chain, test and calibration and quality to identify and quantify improvement needs and opportunities, and develop and execute plans to achieve agreed-to goals. They develop financial models to quantify overall improvement as a function of required investment(s) and collaborate as needed to ensure the financial goals are met. A hands-on position, the ME (II) will be directly involved in day-to-day operations and work directly with assembly and process technicians to collect necessary information to define problem statements and overall needs, and upon completion of projects, to ensure goals have been met.
Job Requirements:
Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by designing and researching best practices; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication and assembly processes, tooling and fixturing design and applications, materials and quality control standards; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from a broad range of internal and external team members.
Research and incorporate best-practice methods, collaborate with equipment vendors, and gather input from internal and external stakeholders to improve capability and efficiency.
Engage with product engineering during the design cycle to ensure design for manufacturability and tooling to ensure efficient and capable production methods and processes. Ensure the total supply chain capability is aligned with evolving product concepts and designs and take early action to ensure successful new product launches.
Review yield reports and most common failure modes per model and work with all stakeholders to define priorities and plans for improvement
Utilize EWR procedures to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
Manage equipment vendors to determine machine and tooling specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate equipment according to specifications and quality standards to ensure capability for the application.
Ensure alignment of the manufacturing supply chain to the quality Management System. Assure product and process quality through the development of testing methods, statistical process controls, process standards, audits and training
Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives
Analyze production data to identify process gaps, root causes, and improvement opportunities
Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams
Support new product introductions (NPI) including process documentation, tooling, and work instructions
Design or improve workstations, layouts, and material flow for ergonomics and efficiency
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation such as process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, and SOPs
Provide technical support to resolve production issues and improve yield
Participate in or lead Lean events, Kaizen workshops, and root cause problem-solving activities
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Apply Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work) to identify and eliminate waste
Perform qualification tasks and capability development activities for contract manufacturing, supplier operations and processes. Coordinate manufacturing startup with suppliers to ensure all components and final assemblies achieve critical quality and performance specifications.
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
SolidWorks and PDM usage experience is required.
LabView Experience is a plus
MATLAB and Simulink is a Plus
GD&T experience is required.
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and tolerance analysis.
Lean Experience required
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related tools
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and processes in a production environment
Familiarity with piezoelectric materials is a plus
Personal Skills
Ability to interface with various personnel at different levels of skills, knowledge, and experience
The ability to speak and write clearly on technical subjects to individuals and groups
Demonstrated ability to work with external parties, including vendors, to develop specifications, schedules, and acceptance criteria
Problem-solving expertise and good organizational skills
Must live local.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $78,000 to $98,000 annually. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
