Job Description
The Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Product team is at the heart of American Express and is a core function within the GMNS business unit. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving Issuing & Acquiring partners in more than 170 markets worldwide. We grow revenue by driving strategic, multi-year initiatives to deliver differentiated value to our merchants, partners, and customers.
Our solutions deliver value to American Express' Card Members, acquirers, and partners across the globe through both proprietary and third-party capabilities, facilitating secure and seamless transactions between issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Our goal is to enable Card Members to pay however and wherever they choose. We deliver on this by setting the vision and strategy for the Network, anchoring our priorities to enterprise objectives, and developing and managing a portfolio of products. We maintain a strong customer focus, consider competitive and regulatory dynamics, and apply an end-to-end product management approach across strategy, roadmaps, scaling plans, and performance metrics. We lead the end-to-end process, manage the partner lifecycle, and drive industry intelligence and engagement through key governing bodies.
The Agentic Commerce Solutions team is responsible for defining and enabling the future of Agentic Commerce across the Amex Global Network. As AI-driven agents, digital wallets, and automated commerce experiences evolve, we are shaping how the Network supports secure, scalable, and commercially compelling agent-based transactions. Our focus spans tokenization, digital identity, and emerging network capabilities required to power next-generation commerce.
The Senior Manager, Strategy & Insights will support the commercial and strategic direction of Agentic Commerce Solutions. Reporting to the Director, Agentic Commerce Solutions, this colleague will manage key strategic partnerships, lead analytical workstreams, synthesize market and performance insights, and help translate emerging industry dynamics into actionable strategic recommendations.
Responsibilities
Support development of the Agentic Commerce strategy by translating market trends and internal performance data into actionable insights
Support development and management of strategic partnerships by evaluating potential partners, shaping partnership strategies, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive alignment and execution
Lead analytical workstreams, including market sizing, competitive intelligence, and partner evaluations
Synthesize external industry developments (e.g., AI commerce models, network trends, emerging standards) into clear implications for Amex
Develop structured insights and recommendations to inform product roadmap, commercial strategy, and prioritization decisions
Support development of business cases, including sizing opportunities, assessing trade-offs, and evaluating strategic investments
Partner cross-functionally with Product, GTM, Risk, Finance, and Enterprise Strategy teams to inform decision-making
Contribute to executive-ready materials, including presentations, strategy documents, and internal communications
Support tracking of key performance indicators and identify risks and opportunities across Agentic Commerce initiatives
Stay informed on evolving industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics
Qualifications
6+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, payments, or financial services
Experience supporting or managing strategic partnerships, including partner evaluation, commercial considerations, and cross-functional coordination
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience structuring complex problems and developing insights
Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, or business case development
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear, actionable recommendations
Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop clear and compelling materials
Experience working in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
Experience in payments, digital commerce, or platform-based business models
Familiarity with emerging technologies (e.g., AI-driven commerce, automation, digital identity)
Exposure to financial modeling or scenario analysis
