Job Title: Electrical Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on leading electrical construction and service work, with a strong emphasis on conduit installation, blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and overseeing a large team on commercial projects. You will install and bend EMT and electrical conduit, perform wiring and panel work from 120-480 volts, and ensure all installations meet NEC code and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret electrical blueprints to plan and execute installations accurately.
Install EMT and electrical conduit in accordance with project specifications and NEC code requirements.
Bend electrical conduit using hydraulic and cyclone benders to achieve precise layouts.
Lay out daily and weekly work for a team of approximately 80 helpers and oversee electrical installations.
Pull wire, install wire, and complete wiring for panels, switchgear, generators, and service equipment.
Perform electrical work on systems ranging from 120 to 480 volts, including lighting and service work.
Troubleshoot electrical systems, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.
Carry out interior fit-out electrical work, including racking systems and related installations.
Follow company handbook guidelines, including call-out procedures, code of conduct, and corporate policies.
Maintain a safe and compliant worksite, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with project scheduling to align work activities with weekly assignments.
Demonstrate leadership on site by guiding helpers, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting professional growth in the trade.
Essential Skills
At least 8 years of experience as an electrical mechanic.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics.
Strong experience installing EMT and electrical conduit in construction environments.
Ability to bend conduit using hydraulic and cyclone benders.
Hands-on experience pulling wire, installing wire, and wiring panels, switchgear, generators, and service equipment.
Demonstrated ability to perform electrical work on 120-480 volt systems, including lighting and service work.
Solid electrical troubleshooting skills for construction and service environments.
Knowledge and application of NEC code in all electrical installations.
Experience with interior fit-out electrical work, including racking systems.
Ability to run conduit, perform conduit bending, and complete wiring to a high standard of quality.
DOB-compliant SST 10 certification.
OSHA 30 certification.
Lift certification for operating supported lifting equipment.

Work Environment
The work is local to the four boroughs and takes place on long-term construction and service projects in a structured, safety-focused setting. Typical hours are either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., depending on the project, with weekly schedules provided by the project coordination team. The environment emphasizes safe, compliant operations with no high-rise work, and follows a formal company handbook that outlines call-out procedures, code of conduct, and expectations within a corporate-style setting. You will work with standard electrical construction tools and equipment, including hydraulic and cyclone benders and lifting equipment, while adhering to established safety and certification requirements.
