Job Title: Traveling Construction Laborer
Job Description
This role involves working as a skilled construction laborer on tunnel and related infrastructure projects while traveling to various job sites. You will support a wide range of construction activities, including water and wastewater, mining, transportation, commercial and residential building, energy, tunneling, and marine projects. The position suits someone with a strong work ethic, hands-on construction experience, and a willingness to learn and work in demanding outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
Assist with tunnel construction and related activities at various project sites that require travel.
Support construction tasks on water and wastewater, mining, transportation, commercial, residential, energy, tunneling, and marine projects.
Perform general construction labor, including trench digging, demolition, and pipeline-related work.
Work in and around trenches and ditches while following safe excavation practices to prevent cave-ins.
Collaborate closely with heavy equipment operators, pipefitters, and supervisors to support accurate alignment, grading, and joining of pipes.
Handle and transport heavy pipes, tools, and materials safely throughout the workday.
Stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods in outdoor conditions.
Follow all site safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic while contributing positively to a team-focused environment.
Adapt to different job sites, project @types, and tasks as project needs change.
Essential Skills
Skilled construction labor experience, preferably with 3+ years of commercial construction work.
Hands-on experience with trench digging, demolition, and pipeline-related construction tasks.
Ability to work safely in and around trenches and ditches, following proper excavation and cave-in prevention practices.
Experience collaborating with heavy equipment operators, pipefitters, and supervisors on active construction sites.
Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, kneel, lift, transport, and place heavy pipes, tools, and materials.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly to different project locations.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new tasks and methods.
Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including sun, rain, heat, and cold.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience with underground utility work is a plus.
Experience operating or working around heavy equipment is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
Work takes place outdoors on active construction sites in all seasons, with exposure to sun, rain, heat, and cold. The role is physically demanding and requires standing for long periods, bending, kneeling, and lifting or carrying heavy pipes, tools, and materials throughout the day. Much of the work occurs in narrow trenches or ditches, where safe excavation practices are critical. You will work closely with a team that includes heavy equipment operators, pipefitters, and site supervisors, often on complex tunnel and pipeline projects. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and highly collaborative, with an emphasis on effective communication and adherence to site safety protocols. Clothing and footwear must be suitable for outdoor construction work and compliant with safety requirements such as sturdy work boots and appropriate protective gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wise, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
