Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
This role focuses on designing robust mechanical products for aerospace applications, ensuring they perform reliably in demanding environments that include high vibration, temperature extremes, fluids, and other contaminants. You will develop and optimize mechanical designs and stress analyses using modern CAD and simulation tools, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to both new product development and ongoing product support within a dynamic aerospace business unit.
Responsibilities
Create mechanical product designs that withstand aerospace environments, including high vibration, temperature variations, fluid exposure, and other contaminants.
Develop detailed stress analyses such as gear bending and fatigue, bearing life calculations, Finite-Element Analysis (FEA), and other dynamic and static stress evaluations using aerospace-accepted techniques.
Optimize designs by using CAD modeling, stress analysis, tolerance stack-up, and other specialized software tools, while considering manufacturing processes and their impact on component and assembly performance.
Design assemblies and components that may include gears and splines, environmental or EMI sealing features, load paths, fasteners, springs, and integrated electronics and packaging.
Collaborate with cross-functional integrated product teams and customers to develop product solutions that meet both customer specifications and internal requirements.
Apply a strong understanding of aerospace-grade materials and their properties, including typical post-processes used for wear resistance, corrosion protection, surface and subsurface defect detection, and insulation.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, sharing information clearly and presenting technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
Assist with product development activities, including planning and supporting scheduling and project management tasks to keep programs on track.
Support both production and aftermarket activities by providing mechanical engineering expertise and design updates as needed.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
At least 3 years of engineering experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
Experience using CREO and 3D CAD tools for mechanical design and modeling.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, analysis, and communication.
Ability to perform stress analyses including gear bending, fatigue, bearing life, and Finite-Element Analysis (FEA).
Knowledge of aerospace-grade materials and related post-processes for wear resistance, corrosion protection, defect detection, and insulation.
Experience designing mechanical assemblies that integrate gears, splines, seals, fasteners, springs, and electronics packaging.
Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers.
Authorization to work in the United States.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in mechanical design within aerospace or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with tolerance stack-up analysis and design for manufacturability in a high-technology environment.
Experience in project engineering or project management, including supporting schedules and coordinating with integrated product teams.
Experience working with electromechanical systems and integrating mechanical designs with control electronics.
Ability to present technical information to diverse audiences and contribute effectively within an integrated product team.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role that requires presence at the facility every workday due to the hands-on nature of the essential job functions. The team operates on a standard schedule of 8-hour days, 5 days per week. The environment is a fully integrated aerospace manufacturing setting, where engineering, production, and support functions work closely together to develop and build electromechanical actuators and control electronics. The culture encourages taking ownership of business success, acting quickly to implement new ideas and projects, and supporting continuous company growth. The dress code is casual, while still appropriate for a professional engineering and manufacturing environment.
