Job Title: Instrumentation Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, with a strong emphasis on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and automated equipment. You will support production operations by ensuring electrical and control systems run safely, reliably, and efficiently, while contributing to continuous improvement and overall equipment uptime.
Responsibilities
Install and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), using communication software to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
Perform electrical and PLC tasks such as calibrating, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining transmitters, controllers, plant safety systems, power systems, and sensors.
Carry out planned preventive maintenance programs on electrical and instrumentation equipment and maintain accurate maintenance records in line with company policies.
Provide electrical and instrumentation support to production and other functional areas to ensure operations continue safely and effectively.
Install, calibrate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical instrumentation, equipment, and associated electrical/electronic controls.
Use appropriate test equipment to check continuity, current, voltage, and resistance on electrical and electronic components and circuits.
Install, visually inspect, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, transformers, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
Identify potential problems in electrical design and recommend or implement corrective actions to improve reliability and safety.
Collaborate with a team of industrial electricians and electrical engineers to support continuous improvement and maximize operational uptime.
Troubleshoot and repair the latest electrical equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production.
Support and develop team members by sharing technical knowledge and practical experience related to PLCs, automation, and electrical systems.
Essential Skills
2-year degree, equivalent certification, or equivalent work experience in a related technical field.
2-3 years of practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment working with automated equipment.
Proficient knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and automation systems, with specific experience in Siemens PLCs.
Strong industrial maintenance skills covering both electrical and mechanical systems.
Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting PLCs and automated control systems.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair on industrial electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Hands-on experience with three-phase electrical systems.
Proficiency in using test instruments to measure continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in an industrial setting.
Capability to work safely in an industrial production environment and follow established safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with industrial maintenance practices, including both electrical and mechanical repair.
Background in electromechanics, combining electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
Experience with welding in support of maintenance and repair activities.
Familiarity with plant safety systems and power distribution systems.
Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting on electrical and electronic equipment during assigned shifts.
Experience working in a team of industrial electricians and electrical engineers.
Strong communication skills and willingness to share knowledge to help develop other team members.
Comfort working in environments that may be hot, loud, and dusty due to production processes.

Work Environment
This position is based in a production facility located in West Virginia. The operation uses furnaces and ovens, so some areas of the production line can be hot, and the environment can be loud and dusty at times. You will work around industrial equipment, electrical systems, and automated machinery, following strict safety and PPE requirements. The role follows shift-based schedules, including a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. shift on a 2-2-3 rotation, as well as a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. lead shift. You will work closely with industrial electricians, electrical engineers, and other maintenance professionals in a hands-on, fast-paced setting focused on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.

The pay range for this position is $79040.00 - $99840.00/yr.
