Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join a high-volume HVAC manufacturing environment and directly support assembly line operations. You will spend all of your time on the manufacturing floor, quickly responding to equipment issues, troubleshooting complex systems, and implementing solutions that keep production on pace. The position focuses on maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operations by diagnosing and repairing industrial machinery, while continuously improving safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
Responsibilities
Work 100% on the manufacturing floor, responding quickly to equipment issues to keep production on schedule.
Troubleshoot machine malfunctions using a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
Diagnose and repair issues with electrical wiring systems on industrial equipment.
Maintain and repair hydraulic systems on production machinery, including valves and related components.
Maintain and repair pneumatic systems on industrial equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Evaluate equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize production downtime and support continuous production flow.
Modify equipment as needed to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability of manufacturing operations.
Support the maintenance and repair of production machinery and equipment, including major overhauls and rebuilds.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic systems used in industrial manufacturing.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related control systems.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues efficiently under pressure.
Communicate clearly with stakeholders at various levels to explain equipment issues, status, and proposed solutions.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include additional maintenance, operational tasks, or improvement projects.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing processes and automation to support operational excellence.
Essential Skills
Associate degree in an engineering discipline minimum
At least 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer/maintenance technician in a manufacturing setting.
At least 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
Hands-on experience with industrial machinery, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
Ability to troubleshoot machine malfunctions using knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical wiring systems on industrial equipment.
Experience maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems on production machinery.
Experience maintaining and repairing pneumatic systems and valves on industrial equipment.
Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic systems in an industrial environment.
Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining PLCs and automation systems.
Background in manufacturing engineering, including exposure to production processes and industrial equipment.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure to resolve equipment issues.
Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude toward working in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods while working on the manufacturing floor.
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET).
Experience in tooling and fixture design, including design for manufacturing.
Experience with robotics and automation in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with continuous improvement and process optimization in production settings.
Comfort providing briefings and updates at all levels of management.
Experience as a maintenance technician supporting industrial equipment is beneficial.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Work Environment
This role is entirely based on the manufacturing floor and is not an office position. You will be on your feet 100% of the time in a high-volume production environment, working closely with industrial equipment, automation, and control systems. The schedule is a Monday through Friday, first-shift role, with hours from 5:00 PM EST to 3:30 AM EST, and an average workweek of approximately 50 to 55 hours. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong focus on keeping production running safely and efficiently. You will work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems, including PLCs and robotics. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.06/hr.
