Job Description:
Primary Purpose of Role:
The Director of Global Supply Chain (GSC) Functional Excellence is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the efficient progress of global supply chain processes. This role direct s and manage s the g lobal Bill - of - Material (BOM) team, direct s, and manage s the g lobal p ackaging t eam, manage s the global ( GSC ) p rogram initiatives, meet s regulatory and other corporate compliance requirements, along with overseeing the Operational Excellence (OE) deliverables for the Responsiveness pillar . The individual will be entrusted with the task of addressing and solving complex operational problems that could potentially affect their unit and other associated departments. This role necessitates managing a team, developing, and executing mid to long-term strategic goals that are in line with organizational objectives, and influencing others to adopt improved practices & methods .
Key Responsibilities:
Hire, lead, and manage a dynamic team to create an inclusive and collaborative work environment
Monitor, evaluate, and provide regular feedback on employee growth and implementing improvement as needed .
Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives to maintain a motivated workforce - positively represent corporate communications to influence outcomes that support business strategies .
Ensure compliance with Allison Policies and manage employee relations matters as needed.
Leads a team of salaried employees with indirect oversight of a small hourly population in bill of material, globa l packaging, and Global Supply Chain functional excellence supporting OE plant design and layout criteria.
Direct and manage Operational Excellence r esponsiveness p illar; with special focus on direct and indirect material movement (including scrap) and delivery within the plant from/to receiving/shipping dock to/from fabrication & assembly operations (leading organization's journey to be fork-truck free on the operations floor).
Drive improvements to the operations teams and operations of the global supply chain to ensure functional excellence (thru identifying, standardizing, training, measuring and helping to improve key performance metrics and processes for GSC)
Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues that could affect the performance or productivity of the supply chain or plant operations.
Complies with regulatory & other corporate policies.
Develop, implement, and oversee continuous improvement and strategic initiatives within the global supply chain to optimize performance.
Direct the planning and execution of program launches to ensure an organized and effective rollout.
Lead and mentor a team of both direct , indirect reports and 3PL resources.
Influence and communicate effectively with executive leadership to gain acceptance of practices and methodologies associated with global supply chain functional excellence.
Handle additional responsibilities such as providing GSC guidance and support for other Allison Transmission operations such as Auburn Hills / Walker or driving synergy projects with other Allison Off-highway plants/PDCs.

Inventory investment, accuracy, and turnover rate
Bill-of-material accuracy
Delivery and Efficiency improvements for material movement
Fork Truck usage % on the operations floor
Competencies and Behaviors :
Required:
Exceptional ability to solve complex and multifaceted problems in an effective manner.
Strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing teams and implementing change.
Proficient understanding of global supply chains and continuous improvement methodologies, including 6-sigma (DMAIC/Root-Cause Analysis/Cause-Effect-Analysis/Failure Mode-Analysis/SIPOC/Control Charts), lean management (VSM/Kanban/Gemba/Kaizen etc) and other established practices.
Outstanding communication skills, especially in influencing others to accept practices and initiatives.
Ability to work with professionals from various cultures and backgrounds
Proficiency in supply chain management software and related applications.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and proficiency in other data management and statistical tools
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering (Mechanical/Production/ Industrial or other relevant discipline), Business or other related areas.
Preferred:
Master' Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering (Mechanical/Production/ Industrial or other relevant discipline), Business, or other related fields
APICS CPIM, SCM, or related certification
Lean / Six Sigma experience, certification
Project Management certification
Experience:
Required: ?
10+ year experience as a leader in Global Supply Chain role.
Preferred:
15+ year experience as a leader in Global Supply Chain role.
Experience with SAP ERP system
