Under general direction from the Service Line Director, the Nurse Manager functions as an administrative manager and is responsible for the daily oversight of the Medical Oncology department, Medical Oncology Practice Infusion Center and Outpatient Infusion Therapy with focus on operations, planning, coordination, staffing, supervising, and maintaining control of all resources required to assure effective and efficient management of patient care and safety according to departmental standards of care and practice.
The Nurse Manager maintains competence in clinical practice and assists in the development of nursing practice standards through participation in professional committees, professional organizations, and in coordination with the Professional Practice Department of Ellis Medicine.
The Nurse Manager demonstrates proactive planning at the unit level, as well as providing input for divisional process improvements.
The Nurse Manager demonstrates excellent interpersonal relationships, effective communication skills, (written, oral and interpersonal) ability to problem solve, ability to motivate, develop and coach individuals and groups, ability to appropriately confront issues, and ability to think creatively. Working closely with the Department Director and/or Medical Director to plan, coordinate and evaluate the operations of the Oncology Clinic, Medical Oncology Practice Infusion Center and Outpatient Infusion Therapy, the Nurse Manager ensures that all departmental standards of care and standards of practice are maintained.
The Nurse Manager will be a resource of education and clinical competency for licensed and non-licensed patient care staff.
Performs all functions of Nursing within the scope of licensing and responsibility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of accredited RN program. Current licensure and registration in NYS with Bachelors' degree preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience in medical/surgical nursing with IV therapy experience and Oncology experience preferred.
Basic Life Support, ONS/ONCC Oncology Nurse Certification and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certified preferred with expected completion of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within 1.5 years.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or workstation for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.

Collaborates and monitors with both the Medical and Service Line Director to develop and manage an annual operating budget and long-term capital expenditure plan.
Educates patient care team members on financial implications of patient care decisions and reinforces the fiscal accountability of the entire team.

Develops and adopts effective human resources strategies that balance organizational goals with the concerns of the individuals.

Salary Range: $44.19-$66.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
