Job Title: Industrial Engineer
Job Description
This Industrial Engineer role supports high-volume manufacturing and production line activities by coordinating with suppliers, preparing lines for sign-off, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and cycle time. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and production operators on-site to ensure smooth line ramp-up, stable operations, and optimized workflows across multiple assembly lines.
Responsibilities
Monitor, track, and follow up on open action items with production line suppliers until all issues are fully resolved.
Execute pre-sign-off activities using established templates and internal requirements to ensure production lines are ready for launch and ramp-up.
Analyze production processes to identify opportunities for improving cycle time and overall line efficiency.
Apply line balancing principles to optimize work distribution across stations and improve throughput on automotive assembly lines.
Conduct time studies to measure task durations, validate standard work, and support process optimization initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, suppliers, operators, and other engineers, to support smooth line ramp-up and ongoing operation.
Support line readiness through data analysis, documentation, and process validation activities.
Work closely with operators on the shop floor to understand current processes, gather feedback, and implement practical improvements.
Provide clear communication and coordination across teams and suppliers to ensure alignment on technical actions, timelines, and expectations.
Document findings, process changes, and improvement actions in accordance with internal standards and procedures.
Essential Skills
Strong understanding of line balancing principles and manufacturing workflows.
Familiarity with assembly processes and production line operations, particularly in an automotive environment.
Experience with line balancing within the automotive industry.
Experience conducting time studies to support process optimization and standard work development.
Proven ability to work with suppliers and manage technical follow-ups through to resolution.
Ability to analyze production data, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of process changes.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple action items, timelines, and stakeholders.
Effective communication skills to coordinate across teams, suppliers, operators, and other engineers.
Industrial engineering with exposure to high-volume manufacturing and assembly environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working on two separate assembly lines, with responsibility for one line as the primary Industrial Engineer.
Experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly in assembly and precision axle or similar component production.
Experience collaborating closely with operators and other engineers to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Comfort working within a defined contract period of approximately 6-9 months.
Familiarity with process validation, documentation, and pre-sign-off requirements in a manufacturing setting.
Work Environment
This role is fully on-site in a large, modern 477,360-square-foot manufacturing facility focused on high-volume production of precision axle assemblies. You will work directly on the assembly lines, engaging daily with operators, engineers, and cross-functional teams in a hands-on industrial environment. The position involves frequent presence on the shop floor around active production equipment, where adherence to standard safety practices and appropriate industrial attire is expected. The expanded facility supports scaled-up production and increased annual output, offering exposure to advanced manufacturing operations and a dynamic, growth-oriented environment

This is a Contract position based out of Duncan, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
