Portage Lake Construction is looking for a General Construction Laborer who can handle a variety of tasks. Work includes site preparation, material handling, and operating machinery. The ideal candidate has some previous construction experience, works hard, and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and prepare job sites by removing debris and hazards.
Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Safely operate small tools and machinery, including saws, drills, jackhammers, concrete mixers, and equipment such as skid steers or lifts.
Assist with framing, concrete pouring, and installation tasks.
Assist with excavation, forming, raking and asphalt paving.
Erect and dismantle scaffolding, temporary structures, and barricades.
Communicate schedules and report maintenance needs to supervisor
Operate company vehicles to move materials and travel between job sites.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of previous experience in construction or equivalent training.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Proven experience operating basic power tools and small machinery.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, to lift up to 75lbs., and to work outside in various weather conditions.
Strong work ethic, punctual, good communication skills, and able to take direction well.
