Job Description
The Chief Private Banking Officer provides enterprise leadership for Wealth Management's Private Banking business, accountable for strategy, growth, and performance across affluent, high-net-worth, and ultra-high-net-worth client segments. The role leads a relationship-driven private banking platform serving clients with $250K in investable assets through $75M+ in net worth, delivering integrated banking, credit, and wealth solutions while maintaining strong risk discipline and regulatory alignment.
This role exists to grow primary client relationships, drive balanced revenue across deposits, lending, and fees, and ensure Private Banking is a differentiated and scalable component of the Bank's broader Wealth Management strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Financial Performance
Set and execute the Private Banking strategy aligned with enterprise priorities.
Drive sustainable growth in core deposits, loan balances, and non-interest income.
Optimize client profitability and balance-sheet usage in partnership with Finance and Treasury.
Establish clear performance metrics focused on growth, efficiency, and risk-adjusted returns.
Client Experience & Value Proposition
Ensure delivery of a consistent, high-quality private banking experience across all markets.
Lead an advice-based, relationship-led model integrating:
Deposits and cash management
Customized credit and lending solutions
Wealth advisory and investment management (in partnership)
Trust, estate, and philanthropic planning
Act as executive sponsor for select key client relationships and centers of influence.
Risk, Credit & Governance
Provide executive oversight of complex and customized credit portfolios.
Ensure adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards.
Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to promote a strong risk culture.
Participate in governance forums (e.g., Credit Committees, as applicable).
Leadership & Enterprise Partnership
Lead, develop, and retain high-performing Private Banking leaders and teams.
Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline.
Collaborate across Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Operations, and Technology to deliver One-Bank solutions.
Promote a culture grounded in client focus, accountability, and doing the right thing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Private Banking, Wealth Management, or Banking
Demonstrated success leading businesses serving affluent, HNW, and UHNW clients
Deep expertise in banking products, credit, balance-sheet management, and regulatory environments
Proven ability to lead senior leaders and influence across the enterprise

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $274,295.00 - $322,700.00
