Summary The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office whose mission is to promote excellence, integrity, and accountability throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Responsibilities This position is located in the Office of Integrity (OI), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The OIG conducts and supervises independent audits, investigations, and inspections of the programs and operations of DHS, and recommends ways for DHS to carry out its responsibilities in the most effective, efficient, and economical manner. The OIG also seeks to deter, identify, and address fraud, abuse, mismanagement, and waste of taxpayer funds. The incumbent serves as the Administrative Investigations Specialist in the Office of Integrity with responsibility of managing, leading, planning, and coordinating the Administrative Investigations Program (AIP) to ensure inquiries are thoroughly reviewed, investigated, and resolved with efficiency and effectiveness. Typical assignments include: Serves as Administrative Investigations Specialist, responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the AIP, ensuring the program is effective, efficient, and consistent with DHS/OIG and Office of Integrity policies. Serves as the DHS/OIG technical authority and subject matter expert in the interpretation of inquiries, complaints, and coordination of the AIP. Provides direct technical oversight and inquiry management of all inquiries and requests within DHS. Manage inquires and complaints intake process, which includes preliminary analysis, complaint determination, and resolution. Ensures all inquiries meet standards, established timelines, and are handled appropriately. Plans, arranges, and coordinates all aspects of inquiries and investigative actions. Recognizes, and explores leads; detects discrepancies in information and distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information. Recruits, selects, and trains a cadre of senior management officials to conduct and reports on management inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned. Analyzing evidence and evaluating its sufficiency; making findings of fact, drawing conclusions regarding the propriety or advisability of action(s) based on requirements of law, rule, regulation, and/or standard practice. Conducting analyses and preparing reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.
