The University of Maine System is accepting applications for a Finance Associate. This position supports the Chief Business Officer in the oversight of budgetary operations at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI), including financial analysis and financial management.
A few of the essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Monitors and adjusts the financial accounting system which is integrated or linked with associated systems (e.g., human resources, student financial aid, student information, advancement, accounts payable, and accounts receivable).
Monitors budget for actual fiscal performance. Processes all budget transfers and adjustments and processes journal vouchers as required. Performs account reconciliations as necessary.
Analyzes Position Management (a software system for workforce planning and budgeting) including all aspects of base budgeted positions. Assists in position creation/deletion, initial position funding, position budgeting and making all ongoing funding changes to established positions, including across-the-board, promotional, post tenure, cohort and wage band increases.
Assists with the development and preparation of annual revenue and expense budget documents for Educational and General (E&G), Auxiliary Operations, and other fund sources of the university.
Performs complex financial analysis to assess the impact of alternative courses of action. Prepares budget status reports, performs special projects, and conducts budget variance analysis as needed.
Knowledge and Skills Qualifications
Required:
Associates degree required with three or more years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
Familiarity with financial and budgeting analysis, reporting tools, and software used to analyze financial data.
Exceptional computer competency, including excellent Microsoft Office computer skills with fluency in Excel and demonstrated skills to acquire new software skills efficiently.
Demonstrated proficiency preparing financial reports using numeric, graphic, and narrative representations.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
Ability to communicate information about financial matters, both verbally and in writing, to constituents with a variety of levels of understanding and experience.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Preferred:
Knowledge of and familiarity with the University MaineStreet system.
Previous work experience in public higher education setting.

Salary: The annual salary is $50,000-$60,000, based on qualifications and experience.
