Job Title: A&P Mechanic
Job Description
The A&P Mechanic performs C checks and heavy maintenance on Dash-8 aircraft for government and military customers. This role focuses on detailed inspection, modification, and repair of aircraft systems and structures in a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environment, ensuring all work meets regulatory and safety standards and that aircraft are ready for safe and reliable operation.
Responsibilities
Perform C checks and heavy maintenance on Dash-8 aircraft in an MRO or depot-level environment.
Examine and inspect aircraft components, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, and deicing systems, to identify cracks, breaks, leaks, corrosion, distortion, or other defects.
Conduct routine and special inspections as required by applicable regulations and customer requirements.
Inspect completed work to certify that maintenance meets all standards and that aircraft are ready for operation.
Read and interpret maintenance manuals, manufacturer publications, engineering orders, schematics, drawings, charts, and technical directives to determine repair methods for malfunctioning or damaged components.
Maintain accurate repair logs and documentation for all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance performed.
Modify aircraft structures, systems, or components in accordance with engineering orders and technical publications.
Replace or repair worn, defective, or damaged components using appropriate hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
Read and interpret pilots' descriptions of problems to diagnose causes and determine corrective actions.
Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories using hand or power tools.
Check fuselage, wings, and tail for corrosion, distortion, and cracks and perform necessary corrective actions.
Support heavy checks and modification projects, including C checks and D checks, in line with production schedules and work cards.
Inventory and order supplies, parts, materials, and equipment as needed to support ongoing maintenance activities.
Work within established time frames to complete assigned tasks in accordance with production schedules and work cards.
Adhere to all safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance and inspections.
Essential Skills
Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
At least 5 years of heavy maintenance or modification experience on aircraft.
Hands-on experience performing heavy maintenance and modification in an MRO or depot-level environment.
Proficiency with C checks, heavy checks, and depot-level inspections on aircraft.
Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, engineering orders, schematics, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
Strong inspection skills for aircraft components, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, deicing systems, fuselage, wings, and tail structures.
Experience assembling and installing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gauges, and testing equipment safely and effectively.
Capability to diagnose issues based on pilots' descriptions and inspection findings.
Eligibility to obtain a Secret clearance.
Ability to maintain detailed maintenance and repair documentation in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Willingness and ability to provide and use personal tools appropriate for aircraft maintenance work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency) environment is a plus.
Background in fixed-wing or helicopter heavy checks is beneficial.
Experience with Dash-8 aircraft or similar platforms is advantageous.
Familiarity with depot-level maintenance and modification programs.
Comfort working from production schedules and work cards with defined time frames.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work collaboratively in a hangar and MRO environment with multiple heavy maintenance and modification projects in progress.

Work Environment
You will work in a hangar-based MRO environment focused on heavy maintenance and modification projects, including multiple heavy checks and structural or systems modifications. Work is driven by a production schedule and detailed work cards, and you will be expected to complete assigned tasks within defined time frames while maintaining high safety and quality standards. The environment emphasizes safety, unity, enthusiasm, proactive urgency, and continuous innovation, with a strong focus on mission success and customer satisfaction. The standard schedule follows a 5x8 workweek, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
