Visit www.cdc.gov Responsibilities As a Information Technology Specialist, you will: Provide technical leadership in IT research and development. Conduct research and evaluate emerging technologies. Serve as a senior technical advisor and subject matter expert on public health information systems, emerging technologies, and system interoperability. Lead and manage complex IT projects and systems, overseeing system design, development, testing, implementation, and performance evaluation of scientific data systems. Coordinate IT services and support system operations, including direct system planning, programming requirements, user support, training, and ensure systems meet organizational needs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship required. Qualifications All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements of the 2210 Information Technology Management Series, which include experience demonstrating the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing consultation and technical assistance to implement, manage, and maintain enterprise-wide IT systems; leading the design and development of data management systems and repositories; and facilitating the adoption of emerging technologies while promoting best practices, policies, and procedures related to information systems. AND have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Education Additional Information The Federal government, as the largest employer in the Nation, can and should show the way towards achieving drug-free workplaces through programs designed to offer drug users a helping hand, and at the same time demonstrating to drug users and potential drug users that drugs will not be tolerated in the Federal workplace if declared a drug-testing position. The use of illegal drugs, on or off duty, by Federal employees is inconsistent not only with the law-abiding behavior expected of all citizens, but also with the special trust placed in such employees as servants of the public.
