Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Civil Litigation. Typical work assignments will include: Providing first-line supervisory oversight to a large group of Paralegal Specialists with varying degrees of experience. Serving as the liaison to the Civil Chief and Deputy Civil Chief. Providing direction to work assignments and coordination amongst the paralegal team. Providing direct case support for affirmative and defensive litigation. Conducting detailed legal research and preparing legal documents for attorney use. Determining priorities and assigning workload as priorities shift. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-13: To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Supervising or working as a paralegal in a legal office environment; providing administrative and technical legal expertise; performing legal research and analysis in support of litigation; summarizing factual aspects of cases, analyzing reports and interviews; working closely with attorneys responsible for investigating and litigating cases; examining and processing a variety of legal documents; conducting analysis and evaluation of data in response to complex or sensitive requests; utilizing litigation support platform/software such as Automated Litigation Support (ALS), Relativity, and IPRO; and other resources to assist attorneys with case preparation; documenting findings, preparing recommendations, and planning and/or overseeing work assignments of legal staff. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
