THE POSITION
Do you have the knowledge, experience, and discernment to effectively handle disputes regarding workers' compensation claims? DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees hearings and legal decisions related to workers' compensation claims while ensuring fairness and accuracy in the process. Work involves reviewing evidence, managing cases, and applying the law to resolve disputes. As a Workers' Compensation Judge, you will perform the following duties:
Conduct Hearings:Lead in-person and virtual hearings to resolve issues under the Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disease Acts
Manage Caseload:Oversee hundreds of active cases while protecting the due process rights of all parties
Review Evidence:Examine testimony, documents, legal arguments, and case law to reach fair and lawful decisions
Issue Decisions:Prepare findings, conclusions, and orders based on statutes, regulations, and legal standards
Research Law:Use legal research tools to evaluate legal positions and ensure correct application of statutes and case law
Guide Litigants:Explain procedures to unrepresented individuals and ensure they understand their rights during the process

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule may vary based on operational needs.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the required training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Altoona. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of Workers' Compensation practice before administrative agencies, or equivalent experience.
Special Requirements:
You must be an attorney in good standing before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
